C-SPAN: Road to the WH - Fred Thompson

Fred Thompson's speech in Virginia. Listen - it's pretty good. He's gonna give 'em all a run for their money! And let them keep spending their money...while he can keep writing and 'connecting' with conservatives around the country through the internet.

A 'Pass' in New Haven,Connecticut

Conn. city issues IDs for immigrants

City officials approved a plan Monday to offer illegal immigrants identification cards that would let them open bank accounts and use other services that may be unavailable without driver's licenses or state-issued IDs.

"Today I Am Proud To Call New Haven My Hometown"

I'm all for people coming to our country and doing the right thing when they get here...but if we appeared at a bank without a license-ID and wanted to open an account, we'd be stopped in our tracks. That's discrimination against law abiding citizens. This is just one more reason the currently proposed Immigration Bill needs to be scratched totally! Contact your Senator and Representative today!

And one more thing...have you seen the commercial from the Texas Employers for Immigration Reform (TEIR)? I don't LIKE IT! Their supporters here.

NCReporter - DISSENT

This appeared in the latest NCReporter: From CFC -Catholics for Free Choice- Prevention, not prohibition, is the way forward

The Catholic hierarchy’s approach to abortion is, as the Vatican most recently described it, “not negotiable.” So not negotiable, in fact, that Catholic public figures, commentators and policymakers who express pro-choice views, or even voice support for contraception, risk public admonition and denial of Communion. I am concerned when bishops threaten to use Communion as a political weapon. Thank God only a tiny minority is so extreme as to threaten such an abuse of the sacrament.

This is what the Church is supposed to teach! IT IS NON-NEGOTIABLE!
LIFE -we have to defend IT always! And I beg to differ that there exists a 'tiny minority' that would 'use Communion as a political weapon'. WE have BXVI!

Until that happens, lay Catholics must take the lead and keep up the pressure on our policymakers to introduce policies that will be effective in reducing the need for abortion.

Slaughter predicts passport failure

The Bush administration’s proposed requirement for passports to cross the U.S. border from Canada will not meet a Jan. 1 deadline and may never be implemented by a new administration, Rep. Louise M. Slaughter predicted Monday in Buffalo.

The Fairport Democrat called the idea “one of the biggest mistakes I think they’ve made — among many” and said there is “no way” the Department of Homeland Security can meet a Jan. 1 target when it hasn’t even determined whether it will require passports or ultimately settle on some other form of identification.

NBC Show - "Heroes"

Heroes, Holiness & Mystical Phenomena

I wondered when someone would connect the story line to the Catholic Church. I noticed this very early on in the show. The GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT...very similar and are always given to build up the Kingdom and Church. Cool!

The Last Mass of Father Ragheed, a Martyr of the Chaldean Church

I know Fr. Ganni is on his way to sainthood.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

And prayers for the conversion of those that committed this heinous crime!

Prayer to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Most sacred Heart of Jesus, pour down Your blessings abundantly on Your holy
Church, on the Supreme Pointiff, and on all the clergy. Grant perseverance to
the just, convert sinners, enlighten infidels, bless our parents, friends, and
benefactors, assist the dying, free the souls in purgatory, and extend over all
hearts the sweet empire of Your love. Pope Pius X, 16 June 1906

Catholic bishop calls deportation policies immoral

Of course this is in CA.

Opponents of illegal immigration have expressed concerns about the church lobby effort, arguing that church leaders are encouraging illegal behavior by ignoring the fact that undocumented migrants have violated federal immigration laws.

Barnes and Soto argue that the current immigration debate fails to make the connection between the economic system that encourages such migration and produces low-priced products and services.

"Those that have been given more," Barnes said, "have a moral obligation to help those with less."

Erie, Pa - Bishop Trautman 'stirring it up'!

Bishop criticizes translation
Proposed rewording of Catholic Mass draws defiance

In a rare show of defiance, a Roman Catholic bishop is using increasingly fiery language to spark a grass-roots revolt against a new Vatican-ordered translation of the Mass.

Bishop Donald Trautman of Erie, Pa., chairman of the U.S. bishops' Committee on the Liturgy, has used several essays and speeches to denounce the proposed translations, which he calls "not acceptable."

"He's really being a true churchman," Father Reese said. "He's putting the good of the church over his own advance or standing in the Vatican or with other bishops."

Tooo bad! BXVI's in charge! You gotta get in line BEHIND BXVI! HE leads us and we are ALL to follow!

Catholic teachers 'must take public vow'

This is strange...why would you send this around to parishes for comment? Maybe to float a balloon, or placate someone? This would be like me asking to take a vote on the 10 commandments. Give me a break. Or unless this is a way for the media to leak this info to everybody before it gets to the parishes. If momma and daddy are in charge they don't take a vote or ask comments from the children about how they're going to discipline them. Talk about misguided compassion. Cardinal Pell should say this is what we're going to do and stand by it! Don't ask for ANY COMMENTS! Craziness.

The Catholic archdiocese of Sydney wants its school leaders to publicly commit to a vow of fidelity by adhering to church teaching on homosexuality, birth control and women's ordination.

The vow would apply to its 167 principals, its deputy principals and religious education coordinators and would be a first for the Australian church, Fairfax newspapers report.

The Archbishop of Sydney, Cardinal George Pell, is behind the move to extend the oath - which is a requirement of church law for bishops, priests and heads of seminaries - to all senior educational leaders.

The requirement is contained in a draft pastoral plan circulated to all parishes of the Sydney archdiocese for comment.
