Happy Birthday Our Dear Blessed Mother!

And may Luciano Pavarotti continue to sing this hymn to

Our Blessed Mother in heaven!

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual help shine upon him. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

Freakonomics on Shrimp

"Shrimponomics"

I like shrimp...they're awesome on Fridays! = )
Forrest Gump:
Bubba Blue (Mykelti Williamson) "Shrimp is the fruit of the sea. You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, sautee it. There's, um, shrimp kebabs, shrimp creole, shrimp gumbo, pan fried, deep fried, stir fried. There's pineapple shrimp and lemon shrimp, coconut shrimp, pepper shrimp, shrimp soup, shrimp stew, shrimp salad, shrimp and potatoes, shrimp burger, shrimp sandwich... That's, that's about it."

'Paintball for Jesus' riles Mariposa residents

Huh? Where does entertainment and 'witnessing' end and begin?

The merits of paintball as a character-building church youth activity became a cause of public debate when the church went looking for a more permanent home for the games.

RFID Tags: The End of American Common Sense?

A good one!

This is not an argument for returning to the days of the abacus or transport by horseback. It is a much-needed acknowledgement that technology has its limitations and is no substitute for common sense, mindfulness and prudence.

Cathedral of Christ the Light

Cathedral in Oakland diocese..have you seen the pictures? The last rendering looks pretty new age to me. (scroll down)

Oh yeah, remember some of these pictures?

And the fact that they use this quote from Robert Lewis Stevenson on their home page -"Mankind was never so happily inspired as when it made a cathedral."

It should read: "I never weary of great churches. It is my favourite kind of mountain scenery. Mankind was never so happily inspired as when it made a cathedral."

They left off the real meat of this quote! Are you inspired or is beauty in the eyes of the beholder? (Imho) The interior is devoid of all spirituality! It does not inspire. It neither draws my heart to worship GOD nor my thoughts to heaven. Why do people insist on taking open space and creating it in such a devoid manner? Why?
