The Queenship of the Blessed Vrigin Mary
I, (name), a faithless sinner, renew and ratify today in your hands,
In the presence of all the heavenly court, I choose you this day for my Mother and Queen. I deliver and consecrate to you, as your slave, my body and soul, my goods, both interior and exterior, and even the value of all my good actions, past, present, and future; leaving to you the entire and full right of disposing of me, and all that belongs to me, without exception, according to your good pleasure, for the greater glory of God, in time and eternity.
– St. Louis Marie de Montfort
Microchips in humans: High-tech helpers or Big Brother surveillance?
The capsules can migrate around the body or bury themselves deep in the arm. When that happens, a sensor X-ray and monitors are needed to locate the chip, and a plastic surgeon must cut away scar tissue that forms around the chip.
The relative permanence is a big reason why Marc Rotenberg, of the Electronic Privacy Information Center, is suspicious about the motives of the company, which charges $20 a year for customers to keep one its database a record of blood type, allergies, medications, driver's license data and living-will directives. For $80 a year, it will keep an individual's full medical history.

Michael D. O'Brien on latest "HP" book
Without neglecting the valid point that good fiction need not be overtly Christian, need not be religious at all, we might ponder a little the fact that the central metaphor and plot engines of the series are activities (witchcraft and sorcery) absolutely prohibited by God. We might also consider for a moment the fact that no sane parents would give their children books which portrayed a set of “good” pimps and prostitutes valiantly fighting a set of “bad” pimps and prostitutes, and using the sexual acts of prostitution as the thrilling dynamic of the story. By the same token we should ask ourselves why we continue to imbibe large doses of poison in our cultural consumption, as if this were reasonable and normal living, as if the presence of a few vegetables floating in a bowl of arsenic soup justifies the long-range negative effects of our diet.
Indeed, even by loving our enemies—at least by trying to learn to love them, and by believing that it is right to do so. With grace this is possible. But selective love (coupled with selective hatred) does not lead to freedom. It is the feelings of love without the substance of love, the feelings of freedom without the foundations of freedom. If God is the absent father—or the father who perhaps never existed—the hero and his readers are left only with such emotions, their hooked loyalties, their love of the self’s insatiable appetites, which they feel cannot be denied without a killing curse of self-annihilation. That is why so many people cling fiercely to the “values” in the Potter books while ignoring the interwoven undermining of those very values. That is why the defenders of Potterworld exhibit such adamancy, frequently outrage, against critics. According to their perceptions, the critics of Potterworld are the enemies of freedom and identity.

SPP is public. By that alone, it cannot be seen as a secret agreement secretly arrived at. I won’t waste time on conspiracy theorists – they who smell treason everywhere. But when, with the help of the Freedom of Information Act, Judicial Watch can uncover official memos talking of the likely need for "stealth" to make SPP acceptable to Canadian, American and Mexican publics, it’s time to insist on openness.

"Get real, stop theologising: Bishop Manning"
"We're not interpreting [the Gospel] in the terms that Christ wanted us to and that is in our attitude of loving other people, and especially loving those who are below our status and people who are suffering," Bishop Manning said.
"Intimate contact between priest and people is lacking to some extent. We've become too professional; too administrative. And I include myself in that. The role of the bishop has become very much centred in his chancery office whereas, what was Christ's attitude to all this? He was out there with the people all the time. I think we've lost that very important contact between the shepherd and his people.
"We've become a middle class church we've lost the poor people out of our schools “ we've become too middle class; our schools have become too costly “ and, to me, that's telling a story right through the church. We are neglecting the poor and the needy."
"My conclusion is that as we climb up the social ladder and become nice and comfortable in our lives with money and affluence and everything else we don't need God. I think this is what has happened in many of our parishes," Bishop Manning said.

A Peek Behind Closed Doors
Digital Angel Corporation Awarded Tender by United Nations Agency
WHY????!!!!!
"the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which is an agency of the United Nations, has awarded Digital Angel a tender to microchip llamas in Peru. The IAEA wants to ensure the llama population remains unaffected from nearby nuclear power plants. The initial order calls for 1,000 microchips and two readers."
Peruvian llamas to be guinea pigs
= )Getting those chips in the llamas could be tricky, the newspaper noted, since animal experts say the woolly beasts of burden, weighing up to 500 pounds, are known to spit and bite. Llamas have a reputation for being quick learners and are "extremely curious and alert."

Getting ready to hit the 100+ degree mark again...come on Oct.While the new, $3 million hangout, which opened in a Dubai mall in June, is expected to become a must-see tourist destination, it also is expected to raise questions about already high energy consumption in this desert land.

ALERT! SPP Transportation/Housing Spending Bill Completed with Immigration - Related Amend.
(July 25) The House of Representatives is continuing debate on spending measures for fiscal year 2008 this week. Last night, Members passed the transportation, housing and urban development appropriations bill (H.R. 3074) and today, they are expected to take up the commerce, justice, and science spending proposal (H.R. 3093). As reported to the House floor, both bills already contain a provision offered by Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) requiring Federal government contractors to participate in the Basic Pilot program.
Last night, Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) offered a successful amendment to the transportation and housing bill (it was adopted by an overwhelming margin [362-3]) that prohibits any funds in the bill from being used to facilitate U.S. participation in the Security and Prosperity Partnership or to create an international highway between Mexico and Canada. The SPP – entered into by the heads of state of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico in 2005 – seeks to "streamline" movement across our borders and, as such, would eliminate the notion of "illegal immigration" and, consequently, would increase the inflow at our borders. Rep. Hunter also is planning to offer this amendment as a revision to the commerce, justice, and science (CJS) appropriations bill.
PLEASE CALL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES!

Canada, US, Mexico sign energy science, technology pact
We have to have an agreement in place to accomplish this!????VICTORIA: Mexico, the United States and Canada Monday signed a five-year agreement they said will increase energy security, boost the economy and protect the environment. US Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman called the agreement signed in the western city of Victoria a "milestone" on the road to "a strong, unified North American energy market."
In a joint press release, Bodman, Mexican Energy Secretary Georgina Kessel, and Canada's Minister of Natural Resources Canada Gary Lunn, said it was the first science and technology agreement in North America, where three-way energy trade is worth 150 billion dollars.
The Victoria pact will stimulate innovation and increase energy capacity, Lunn was quoted as saying. Multinational cooperation will bring down the cost of new technologies, including the next generation of nuclear power, he added.
The agreement seeks to accelerate the development of biofuels, gas hydrates, hydrogen, enhancing carbon capture and storage, cleaner coal and transmission of electricity.
In addressing concerns about the environment, Mexico's Kessel said the "challenge in North America is to make the use of energy compatible with economic growth and the preservation of the environment."
The ministers also pledged to work on common standards for energy-efficient consumer appliances, and announced a joint workshop on the issue in Mexico in September.
