'WEEPING' STATUES MAY REFER TO TROUBLES IN CHURCH AS FOCUS IS ON RENEGADE PARISH

Yes, I believe Our Blessed Mother is crying for all her children...most especially her priests.

Please don't cry 'Momma'...we'll make it better...we'll pray more and accept our crosses for love of HIM and YOU!

Lay Catholics step up during priest shortage

Gautier considers the emergence of people in this role a stop-gap measure. "It's not like all parishes are going to be replaced by lay people," Gautier said. "It's to help them out until there's such a time as there's enough priests to go around."

I pray and hope so!
With Minninger empowered as a pastoral minister, she's not only able to counsel church members but can pick up such duties as preaching, presiding over funerals and baptizing children when a priest isn't available.

[snip]

Well apparently, she sees this for the future....hmmmm...'plan'....?

But Minninger said her family fully supports her new career, and its rewards far outweigh its challenges. "I would hope that in this position that I or anyone else in this ministry will be able to model for other people the many ways that you can serve in the church," she said. "I do see this as a part of the future of the church."

Well there ya' go....it is the 'plan'.

Catholic group accused of not supporting abuse victims

And since they've got no where else to go on issues...why not jump on the same old worn out issue---Allowing married priests may be group’s next goal

"Rev. Richard McBrien, a theologian at the University of Notre Dame and a longtime friend of the group"... again visits...celibacy:

There is another reason as well for reconsidering the rule, he said. In such a pool of men for whom lifelong celibacy is not a problem there is bound to be a disproportionate number of “sexually immature or sexually dysfunctional candidates,” he said. Opening the door of the priesthood to married men would broaden the pool of quality candidates, he said.

Nah....the issue is HOLINESS and Mr. Hayes hits it (DITTO!) :

Michael Hayes, managing editor of a Web site, BustedHalo.com, and author of Googling God, offered members in a workshop yesterday some of the challenges that Voice of the Faithful faces in trying to reach out to younger Catholics, particularly those in the so-called Millennium Generation, born after 1980.

In contrast to the Voice of the Faithful members, who are often perceived as more distrustful of authority, including church leaders, the Millenniums, said Hayes, are far more trusting of civil and church authority. They are more likely to get involved in helping one’s neighbor not because it’s a nice thing to do but because it is what Jesus asks of them, and far more comfortable than Baby Boomers to pray alone before the Blessed Sacrament and to seek out a priest for confession — all things the Voice of the Faithful members need to appreciate more if they’re ever going to reach a new generation.

Holy Cross 'Catholic Status' At Risk Over Planned Parenthood, NARAL

Durbin and Others Revive DREAM Act Amnesty In New Bill

Although senators have, thus far, passed on tacking the DREAM Act amnesty on as an amendment to several other bills, majority leadership is now pushing for a vote on the DREAM Act as a stand-alone measure. That bill is expected to be S. 2205, introduced yesterday (no text yet available) by Assistant Majority Leader Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and cosponsored by two long-tenured Republicans. It is imperative that NumbersUSA members contact their senators to stave off any future activity on the DREAM Act.

Prayers to St. Anthony for Conversion

Catholics Deny Communion on Political Grounds

Conservative Catholics are once again up in arms against the Sisters, this time because members went to Most Holy Redeemer Church in the Castro on the Sunday morning of the Castro Street Fair to partake in one of the world’s stranger religious rituals: the eating of the body of Jesus Christ (their alleged crucified savior) and the drinking of his blood in the form of a wafer of bread and a sip of grape juice (or are they still using wine?). Archbishop Niederauer, who was saying the Mass, noticed the unusually dressed persons, but gave them Communion anyway. After all, when in Rome.I’m not a Catholic anymore, but as I recall, that’s what priests are supposed to do. Nuns and priests in the schools I attended never said, “we don’t give Communion to gay guys dressed as nuns.”

[snip]

So very sad!

At least it’s not the bad old days when the Archbishop would have just ordered the Sisters burned at the stake.

Prayers to St. Anthony for Conversion

Loving Saint Anthony you always reached out in compassion to those who had lost their faith. You were especially concerned because they had lost access to the healing words of Jesus found in the Sacrament of Reconciliation and in the nourishing presence of Jesus in the Sacrament of the Eucharist.

Intercede for (name) who has stopped practicing his/her faith. Reawaken in his/her heart a love for our Church and the sacraments, and enkindle in his/her heart a sense of forgiveness for the ways he/she might have been hurt by members of the Church who fell short of the teaching of Christ.

Finally, St. Anthony, help me to respond to my own call to conversion so that I might become an example of someone who has found great peace in the arms of Christ. May the joy I experience as a Catholic be an invitation to those who are lost to come home again to the Church which we love. Amen.

MHR-San Francisco Archbishop giving Communion to 'nuns' overblown

Jesuit Father Donal Godfrey, one of the Mass concelebrants, said the way the two men were dressed was "disrespectful to religious sisters," but he said he felt "it probably wasn't their intention (to offend.) They knelt in all the right places. They stood in all the right places. Except for the way they were dressed, they weren't doing anything disrespectful."

"I thought it was disrespectful for somebody to go to another church with the intention of filming it," he added, "without asking the pastor permission to do that and, second, with the intention of using that in a hostile way, without having a conversation first with the pastor. On the face of it, they were out to get the archbishop."

Asked about reaction he had received, Archbishop Niederauer expressed concern about the impact of Web logs, or blogs.

"The blogosphere is a kind of dangerous, endless recess in a global schoolyard," he said, "where the bullies with the biggest bullhorns can shout whatever they want."

Get your bullhorns ready!!

Political Notebook: SF archbishop in hot water

Matt Dorsey, an openly gay member of the church's parish council, dismissed the criticisms against the Sisters receiving the Eucharist as having little to do with Catholicism.

"This organization is a hard right fundamentalist group that does not represent mainstream Catholics, and frankly, does not espouse any teaching of Jesus Christ I am aware of," said Dorsey. "The same people object to Communion being given to Nancy Pelosi , John Kerry, and Rudy Giuliani. The truth is this isn't about religion; it is about the culture war and their efforts to drag the archbishop into it."

Halloween Costumes Spark Protest
"But if I had been busy doing the things I should've been doing the past several years— praying more and being a good witness— it wouldn't have come to this. There wouldn't be costumes like that."

Johnson County grand jury hands down obscenity indictments

Halloween Store Obscenity Charges Dropped

From a reader - her report:

Dear Friends,

I called the "Spirit Halloween" main number at 1-800-COSTUME and spoke to someone who carefully took down my complaint re: the obscene adult costumes of a priest and nun at the "Spirit Halloween" stores http://www.spirithalloween.com/. This person explained she would foreword it to the appropriate person. I also sent an email to help@spirithalloween.com.

Then I immediately called my local "Spirit Halloween" store to ask if they were carrying the obscene adult costumes of a priest and nun. The manager, who answered the phone, said "yes, they had these costumes". I explained that I was a Catholic and extremely offended by this direct insult on Catholic priests, nuns and the entire Catholic Church. This manager proudly told me that she too, was not only a Catholic, but was also a Confirmation teacher at her Catholic parish here in town. She thinks it's just fine to have these profane costumes and said, "we really need to pick our battles". When I commented we would never see costumes of this nature depicting the Jewish or Islamic faith, she said, "Oh, I don't know about that". I pleaded with her, in a very respectful tone, to try to understand the disrespect this brings to our priests and nuns and I told her that I would be praying she makes the right decision to remove the offensive costumes. She thanked me. I AM praying! Please do the same....

Thank you and God bless!

XXXX

I called too and was told they could address the issue in 2 weeks. I told them I didn't have 2 weeks. So I pushed the issue and asked that someone higher contact me. The young lady on the other end said that they would probably call me. YEA RIGHT. We have to continually work and fight to defend HIM in all that we do and say. NO matter what. So let's keep calling them and sending emails.

This isn't just a culture war folks---IT'S SPIRITUAL WARFARE!
Again: "But if I had been busy doing the things I should've been doing the past several years— praying more and being a good witness— it wouldn't have come to this. There wouldn't be costumes like that."

****Warning offensive material****
Obscene adult costumes of a priest and nun are being distributed on the internet and to local Halloween stores across the nation.
In two Albuquerque Halloween stores, costumes of the "Happy Priest" and "Pregnant Nun" are openly displayed. "The Happy Priest" costume depicts a priest with an erection while the costume of a pregnant nun is called "Thank you, Father". Other filthy nun outfits displayed on the website include the "Sexy Nun" and "Sexy One Bad Habit". While other costumes of religious figures including a Rabbi and Moses are available, only the priest and nun are portrayed in a profane and raunchy fashion; truly the product of cynical, sick mind!
Local Albuquerque Catholic activists are organizing a boycott and pickets at two Spirit Halloween stores.
Please protest the obscene costumes. Tell them as a Catholic you are deeply offended by this bigoted attack using obscene costumes on the thousands of Catholic clergy and religious in America who devote their lives in countless ministries to sacrifice and humbly serve the Church and people in need in communities everywhere.
Call the main distributor of this filthy display of bigotry and prejudice against Catholic religious at 1-800-COSTUME and tell them to remove these costumes from distribution NOW!

Just a quick note to recognize the

Your entire congregation was so welcoming and it was great to be able to participate in the Mass. Afterwards, one of the parishioners offered us a blue “MHRC: An Inclusive Catholic Church” pin that I was proud to wear through the Castro Fair. You are a wonderfully inclusive Church!

One Step Away - 'Chipped Pets' 'REQUIRED'

Cedar Hill microchip rule aims to reduce lost pets

State law requires all Texas shelters to sterilize animals that are being adopted and mark them with a tattoo or implant a microchip saying the procedure has been done. Most shelters are using microchips because it also IDs the animal. The law went into effect in 2006.

"It's one more tool to get the animal home. First and foremost, it's about reuniting the animal and the owner," said Paul Curington, operations manager for Dallas Animal Services. "But you can look at that microchip as an enforcement tool. It's a way to drive responsibility into someone."

A few jurisdictions, such as Los Angeles County, require all pets to have microchips. El Paso is alone among Texas cities in requiring them for all dogs, cats and ferrets within the city limits, said Lorenzo Hinojos, the city's animal regulation and disease control supervisor.

[snip]

"It's a great idea," said Jay Sabatucci, president of the Texas Animal Shelter Coalition. "It's a relatively new idea, but I can see that coming in more places."

Most animal control officers carry scanners with them. [OUR FUTURE? Policeman carrying scanners?] They can return microchipped animals home rather than impound them, which frees up space in crowded shelters, Mr. Sabatucci said.

"Most people don't understand how the shelter business works," he said. "They don't want your animal."

[snip]

The shelter charges $25 to microchip an impounded animal. Officials hope to
offer the service to the public later at a reduced cost. [Money, money,
monnnneeeyy...monnneeey...]

SPCA of Texas hospitals charge $28 and Operation Kindness $15. Chips implanted by veterinarians can run from $45 to $75.

Reminder: Vatican Document on Pastoral Care of Homosexual Persons

LETTER TO THE BISHOPS OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH ON THE PASTORAL CARE OF HOMOSEXUAL PERSONS

3."(Individual homosexual actions) were described...as being 'intrinsically disordered', and able in no case to be approved of...Although the particular inclination of the homosexual person is not a sin, it is a more or less strong tendency ordered toward an intrinsic moral evil; and thus the inclination itself must be seen as an objective disorder. Therefore special concern and pastoral attention should be directed toward those who have this condition, lest they be led to believe that the living out of this orientation in homosexual activity is a morally acceptable option. It is not."

7."A person engaging in homosexual behaviour therefore acts immorally."

8."Nevertheless, increasing numbers of people today, even within the Church, are bringing enormous pressure to bear on the Church to accept the homosexual condition as though it were not disordered and to condone homosexual activity. Those within the Church who argue in this fashion often have close ties with those with similar views outside it...The Church's ministers must ensure that homosexual persons in their care will not be misled by this point of view, so profoundly opposed to the teaching of the Church. But the risk is great and there are many who seek to create confusion regarding the Church's position, and then to use that confusion to their own advantage."

9."The movement within the Church, which takes the form of pressure groups of various names and sizes, attempts to give the impression that it represents all homosexual persons who are Catholics. As a matter of fact, its membership is by and large restricted to those who either ignore the teaching of the Church or seek somehow to undermine it. It brings together under the aegis of Catholicism homosexual persons who have no intention of abandoning their homosexual behaviour. One tactic used is to protest that any and all criticism of or reservations about homosexual people, their activity and lifestyle, are simply diverse forms of unjust discrimination."
..."Even when the practice of homosexuality may seriously threaten the lives and well-being of a large number of people, its advocates remain undeterred and refuse to consider the magnitude of the risks involved. The Church can never be so callous. It is true that her clear position cannot be revised by pressure from civil legislation or the trend of the moment. But she is really concerned about the many who are not represented by the pro-homosexual movement and about those who may have been tempted to believe its deceitful propaganda. She is also aware that the view that homosexual activity is equivalent to, or as acceptable as, the sexual expression of conjugal love has a direct impact on society's understanding of the nature and rights of the family and puts them in jeopardy."

15."We encourage the Bishops, then, to provide pastoral care in full accord with the teaching of the Church for homosexual persons of their dioceses. No authentic pastoral program will include organizations in which homosexual persons associate with each other without clearly stating that homosexual activity is immoral."

17."All support should be withdrawn from any organizations which seek to undermine the teaching of the Church (regarding homosexual behavior), which are ambiguous about it, or which neglect it entirely. Such support, or even the semblance of such support, can be gravely misinterpreted. Special attention should be given to the practice of scheduling religious services and to the use of Church buildings by these groups, including the facilities of Catholic schools and colleges. To some, such permission to use Church property may seem only just and charitable; but in reality it is contradictory to the purpose for which these institutions were founded, it is misleading and often scandalous."

"During an audience granted to the undersigned Prefect (Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger), His Holiness, Pope John Paul II, approved this Letter, adopted in an ordinary session of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, and ordered it to be published."

Why I am not a Republican-J. Corsi

We now have 10 percent of Mexico's population living in the United States as Mexican nationals. As a result, we have already become a dual country, whether we like it or not, and I don't remember that anybody was ever given the chance to vote on it.

[snip]

Electing Republicans is not my priority. Electing moral Christian politicians who will remain true to constitutional principles is my goal.

[snip]

My point is that there are not enough Republican Party true believers to win a national presidential election without the moral Christians brought into the GOP by Ronald Reagan.

[snip]

Today, unfortunately, on issues of illegal immigration and open borders, it is hard to tell apart many Republicans from most Democrats.

If we get a Bush-Clinton dynasty extending to a Hillary Clinton presidency, we will get more globalism. But the problem is that all the top tier Republican candidates for president are themselves members of the Council on Foreign relations. So what's the difference?
