Now, add to the Parisian capital's list of honorary designations the new one that has just been assigned to the plaza in front of Notre Dame Cathedral, one of the city's most famous sites. As of Sunday, that high-traffic patch of pavement will be known as the Place Jean-Paul II (John-Paul II Plaza) in honor of the pontiff who died last year.
