Vicious, Venal and Violent

This is really the only title that adequately describes the murderous movement known as "pro-choice" or "pro-abortion." It is now frightening, thought not at all surprising, how absolutely hardened and inhumane our culture has become because of this satanic force that has grown strong through 36 years of wholesale murder of God's precious innocents. The pro-choice movement has made murder just a casual pastime now, part of the general round of things that the news reports routinely. Yet, how surprised should we be at this when we stand back and see the unclean spirit that is behind the movement whose sole motivation is death? The fruits of this movement are universally demonic: a callous disregard for the sanctity of life, the insane promotion of death through lies, distortions and hate-filled propaganda. The nastiness of this movement is no longer able to be contained.

If this were not evident prior to last Friday, then the killing of pro-life activist Jim Pouillon in Michigan on the eighth anniversary of 9-11 should make it clear. Literally every major pro-life organization condemned in categorical terms the killing of abortionist George Tiller immediately as it happened this summer, but we are still waiting to hear an outright condemnation of Pouillon's murder from Planned Parenthood or the National Organization for Women and other organizations that profit from and justify baby-killing. NARAL issued a pathetic "condemnation" which refused to recognize the anti-life motivation for this killing. After all, lies and killing are the business of these organizations: at six weeks, sixteen weeks or sixty-two years in Jim's case, they have no regard for the protection of the innocent if it does not support their anti-life agenda.

The summit of viciousness had to come, however, from the media, the propaganda mouthpiece for the killing industry. A local paper, The Flint Journal, published within 24 hours the entire legal record of the victim, including dismissed misdemeanors and traffic violations. Outside of the fact that this man was arrested and penalized numerous times precisely for his pro-life activism, have we ever heard of such a diabolic mockery of an innocent man's death? As far as I am concerned, Jim Pouillon will be granted a chance to stand up and testify against the editors of The Flint Journal on the day of their judgment. He will convict them of every vicious word. Woe to those journalists of iniquity! Their names will be blotted out of the Book of Life because they are sadistic enemies of life.

The evidence of pro-abortion viciousness is all around us for those who have eyes to see. HLI has documented thousands of cases of abortion violence and published the information on a special website (www.abortionviolence.com). It should convince any reader that the pro-death movement is the most violent and hateful social movement ever known to man, without exception.

Don't forget the social impact of decades of "pro-choice" rhetoric either. If you think it has not had any effect on our youth culture, take a look at a smattering of the comments that appeared the day of the shooting on the NBC 25 (Mid-Michigan) news comment section. The few that I have published below show only a fraction of the hate. That is all I have the stomach to write today. We will pray for the dear pro-life martyr, Jim Pouillon, who literally gave his life for babies; but more than anything, let us pray for these vicious enemies of life who will have a great deal to answer for when they are judged by a more severe force of Justice than the internet.

As people of faith it is our responsibility to get on our knees and pray that God will cleanse our national conscience of this evil and restore our nation to a culture of life.

Human Life International's Statement on the Passing of Senator Edward Kennedy

We must, as a matter of precept, pray for the salvation of heretical Catholics like Senator Edward Kennedy, but we do not have to praise him let alone extol him with the full honors of a public Catholic funeral and all the adulation that attends such an event. There was very little about Ted Kennedy's life that deserves admiration from a spiritual or moral point of view. He was probably the worst example of a Catholic statesman that one can think of. When all is said and done, he has distorted the concept of what it means to be a Catholic in public life more than anyone else in leadership today.

Obviously we don't know the state of Senator Edward Kennedy's soul upon death. We don't pretend to. We are told by the family that he had the opportunity to confess his sins before a priest, and his priest has said publicly he was "at peace" when he died. For that we are grateful. But it is one thing to confess one's sins and for these matters to be kept, rightfully, private. It is another thing entirely for one who so consistently and publicly advocated for the destruction of unborn human beings to depart the stage without a public repudiation of these views, a public confession, as it were.

It is up to God to judge Senator Kennedy's soul. We, as rational persons, must judge his actions, and his actions were not at all in line with one who values and carefully applies Church teaching on weighty matters. Ted Kennedy's positions on a variety of issues have been a grave scandal for decades, and to honor this "catholic" champion of the culture of death with a Catholic funeral is unjust to those who have actually paid the price of fidelity. We now find out that President Obama will eulogize the Senator at his funeral, an indignity which, following on the heels of the Notre Dame fiasco, leaves faithful Catholics feeling sullied, desecrated and dehumanized by men who seem to look for opportunities to slap the Church in the face and do so with impunity simply because they have positions of power.

It is not enough for Kennedy to have been a "great guy behind the scenes" as we have seen him referred to even by his political opponents. It is also not praiseworthy to put a Catholic rhetorical veneer on his leftist politics that did nothing to advance true justice as the Church sees it or to advance the peace of Christ in this world. Every indication of Senator Kennedy's career, every public appearance, every sound bite showed an acerbic, divisive and partisan political hack for whom party politics were much more infallible than Church doctrines. Whatever one's political affiliation, if one is only "Catholic" to the extent that his faith rhymes with his party line, then his Catholicism is a fraud.

As the Scriptures remind us, there is a time for everything under the sun. This, now, is the time for honesty about our Faith and about those who are called to express it in the public forum. If we do not remind ourselves of the necessity of public confession for public sins such as Senator Kennedy was guilty of, then we are negligent in our embrace of the Faith and we are part of the problem. As Pope Benedict has reminded us recently, charity without truth can easily become mere sentimentality, and we must not fall into that error. A Catholic show of charity for the family must not eclipse the truth that is required of all with eyes to see and ears to hear.

Senator Kennedy needs to be sent to the afterlife with a private, family-only funeral and the prayers of the Church for the salvation of his immortal soul. He will not be missed by the unborn who he betrayed time and time again, nor by the rest of us who are laboring to undo the scandalous example of Catholicism that he gave to three generations of Americans.

QUESTION: The other has to do with the knowledge that there will be billions of dollars of cuts in Medicare over the years to accommodate baby boomers.

So the question is: Does this translate into dictation of what can and cannot be given to a senior in service? For example, will there be fewer hip and knee replacements? Even if I decide when I'm 80 that I want a hip replacement, am I going to be able to get that? Am I going to be able to see a cardiologist or -- if I have a heart condition or other specialist? Or is that going to all be primary care? [I had both hips replaced at a young age....12 yrs. ago. I hope and pray my hips last forever! We all need to pay attention to our own health care...make sure you ask the doctor questions about costs of procedures, etc. YOU be in charge of YOUR CARE---NOT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT! And if possible always bring someone with you to the doctor/hospital -when you are discussing serious matters-i.e. a procedure or surgery. While at the hospital make sure you have someone to stay with you ANNNNDDD when you go for a procedure no matter how small please receive the Sacrament of the Sick!]

QUESTION: I'm calling it rationing of care. I'm coining it that.

OBAMA: Yes, no, I think it's an excellent question, Carolyn. And I appreciate it, because I do think this is a concern that people have generally.

My interest is not in getting between you and your doctor, although, keep in mind, right now, insurance companies are often getting between you and your doctor. So it's not as if these choices aren't already being made. It is just they're being made by private insurance companies without any real guidance as to whether the decisions that are being made are good decisions to make people healthier or not.

So what we've said is, we just want to provide some guidelines to Medicare and, by extension, the private sector about what works and what doesn't.

Some of you may have heard we wanted to set up what we're calling an IMAC, an independent medical advisory committee, that would on an annual basis provide recommendations about what treatments work best and what gives you the best value for your health care dollar.

OBAMA: And this is modeled on something called MedPAC, which, by the way, Jennie, who's sitting right next to me, is currently on and gives terrific recommendations every year about how we could improve care to reduce the number of tests or to make sure that we're getting more generic drugs in the system if those work and are cheaper, all kinds of recommendations like that. Unfortunately, right now they're just sitting on a shelf. So we don't want to ration by dictating to somebody, "OK, you know what? We don't think that this -- this senior should get a hip replacement."

What we do want to be able to do is to provide information to that senior and to her doctor about, you know, this is the thing that is going to be most helpful to you in dealing with your condition. [AND how pray tell would the government do this? Dr. gets on the phone...oops...on the computer and goes to a chart...hmmmm....can I cut off her foot because it's turning a few colors of the rainbow...then said Dr. waits to get the approval on procedure? Come on people WAKE-UP!!!!!]

So let's say that person is diabetic. It turns out that if hospitals and doctors are providing reimbursements for a nurse practitioner or a social worker to work with that diabetic to control their diets and their medications, then they may avoid having to get a foot amputation. That's a good outcome. [WHAT!? WHERE ARE THE DOCTORS? WHY AREN'T THEY SOUNDING OFF? ARE THEY FEELING THREATENED?]

And, by the way, that will save money. That saves Medicare money. And if we save money on Medicare, that means that it's going to be more stable and more solvent over the long term. [We've killed-off our population by aborting our children and now we don't have enough people paying into Medicare....]

So the thing that I'm -- if I were -- look, I think I'm scheduled to get my AARP card in a couple years, is that right?

So, now what America?! This is the trillion dollar question...

Public Policy Center seeks participants for road user study

The University of Iowa Public Policy Center is looking for drivers in nine Eastern Iowa counties to participate in a national study that will test a new approach to financing the nation's roadways. A new approach is needed because the current gas tax is steadily becoming less effective, according to center experts.

The study involves a global positioning system (GPS) that will allow drivers to pay only for the actual number of miles they travel. It is designed to be a fair and confidential way to collect road use taxes, said Lori Jarmon, project manager of operations for the study.
