WARNING-"Narrow Road Ahead"
I liked this comment:
Sallie Says: January 8th, 2006 at 4:57 pm
"I find it interesting that Christianity is the only religion that gets held up to satire, mockery and travesty by prime time TV. It causes me to remember the warning we received in the Bible about dealing with principalities and powers. Forget the entertainment and look at the big picture!!!
How does this show glorify our Lord and Savior. How does getting our entertainment from watching the sins of others fit in with Christian living? And just what message does this show make to the unbelievers that we are trying to reach with the truth, when even the church officials were living hypocritical, sinful lives! ! !
Wake up. Narrow is the road."
"The Book of Daniel"-Diane Winston-LA Times
"This misses the point. "The Book of Daniel" doesn't disparage Bible-believing Christians. Instead, it demonstrates the difficulty of turning serious religion into entertainment. Religion can be played as sentimental, spooky or satire, but doing it straight — think "ER" repotted in a synagogue — is hard to pull off." Diane Winston-LA Times

I noticed that there were more NBC commercials than other paid sponsors. Hmmm? I wonder if they had a difficult time getting sponsors? It sure looked like it when all the Olympic ads were run.

Amy's "open book" discussion-"The Book of Daniel"
I have often wondered what keeps people from seizing their grace-filled moment from Father-God. He presents us all with a moment to actually defend HIS SON! And what do we do? We wait for the moment to pass and we decide either that it's not the right time or not enough time, we need to pray about it, we have other battles to fight, or we just don't care. I don't understand this kind of thinking. No, I do understand. We know who loves it when we sit and do nothing. Enough said there.
Back to a comment made on this discussion: Roger asks: "Does anyone know the name of an Episcopalian blog, on the level of "Open Book"?"
I too, wondered what the Episcopal Church or Episcopalian bloggers were writing/blogging. I am sad to say I found these: Father Jake Stops the World & The Blog of Daniel.
Will it just go away if we just leave it alone?
I'll post my sponsor list in the next posting.

George Weigel on Benedict XVI
It was expected Joseph Ratzinger would bring intellect to the papacy, but now action is in demand
The Future of Jerusalem-Vatican Modeled
Sandro Magister reports on this plan here.
"The Vatican was studied as a model because – although it is an independent state – it is administratively integrated into Italy in terms of its money, water supply, electricity, sewer system, telephone system, railroad, and security services."
On the surface, it sounds like it can work.
Our prayers continue for peace!
2006 & The Bible Code
"The warnings that are most clearly stated in the code are (a) the world will face global economic collapse starting in the Hebrew year 5762. 2002 in the modern calendar. We know that one came true. (b) this will lead to a period of unprecedented danger as nations with nuclear weapons become unstable and terrorists can buy or steal the power to destroy whole cities. After 9/11 no one doubts it. And then of course there's the most terrible of the three predictions, god help us if this one comes true. The danger will peak in the Hebrew year 5766, 2006 in the modern calendar. The year that is most clearly encoded with both world war and atomic holocaust."
I don't think that we had a global economic collapse in 2002. But the 2nd one -(b)- can apply to this moment right now.
Needless to say, our prayers continue for mercy and the salvation of our souls.

Mary, Mother of God-Solemnity & Happy New Year!
Today from our Holy Father-Pope Benedict XVI-
“A mother is she who gives life but also she who helps and teaches how to live,” said the Pope. “Mary is Mother, Mother of Jesus to who she gave her blood, her body. And it is she who presents the eternal Word of the Father, come to live among us. Let us ask Mary to intercede for us. Her maternal protection accompanies us today and always, so that Christ may welcome us one day in his glory, in the communion of Saints”.
'O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.
More from Mount St. Agnes (RSM) & Carol Lee Flinders
"If women are to bring forth a new paradigm, built on inclusiveness, mutuality, and reverence for nature, their inner work must be as sustained and systematic as their analysis and their activism. To that end, this workshop will offer a meditative practice that can be carried out in any religious tradition (or none), and that is an ideal foundation for spiritually informed activism."
I have always noticed their systematic drive to change institutions. I consider that burning and razing institutions. Nothing like selfishness to run your emotions and behavior.
Get ready it's getting ready to be a bumpy and dangerous ride on that "train". Even though "the train has left the station" we can still derail and detour it. But let's not get "side-tracked"-defeated by their behavior or their plans. We keep pushing forward-onward and upward assisting in building up HIS KINGDOM on earth-NOT her kingdom!
Op-ed on Boston Catholic Charities from NCR
"We can become the absolutists, the literalists who keep cutting off limbs and poking out eyes to fend off that which we find disagreeable. Or we can rediscover the robustness of true Catholicism. We can recognize that politics is not religion. We can rejoin the fray, making our points by persuasion and example, not by ultimatums, sulking and walking away."
This from the National Cath. Reporter Editor--He talks as if his faith were a CAN OF BEER!
I am surprised Hitler and the terrorist comparison is not made in this piece. I have heard it so many times before now. It's just very sad.

Vatican II 40th Anniversary & the Vernacular
Lost in Translation
The Bishops, the Vatican & the English Liturgy
"The use of vernacular languages in the liturgy did not begin with the Second Vatican Council. For decades previously an array of Catholic scholars and experts had been doing research in France, Germany, the Low Countries, Italy, England, and the United States; centers of liturgical renewal had become influential; and by the early 1950s, Rome had commissioned conferences of bishops-already it was they who had the responsibility-to prepare translations of part of the rites for baptisms, marriages, and funerals. Precisely because so much preparation had been done, the bishops assembled for the council felt able to push ahead immediately with liturgical reform."

Recognizing Consensus Building
Just maybe there ARE more people waking up.

They're not unseen or unheard about now!

More on Boston's Catholic Charities
"BY SNUBBING the annual Christmas dinner for Catholic Charities, Archbishop Sean O'Malley seems to be saying that believers like himself must sometimes turn their backs on the common good if there is conflict with the church's strict religious tenets.
Such a narrow, polarizing view could hardly serve the city well and is especially disappointing during a season associated with tolerance and good will."
"Yet in the opinion of the archbishop, the Catholic mayor's good works would seem to be negated by his support for abortion rights and same-sex marriage."
"Menino may be out of sync with some church teachings, but he and other successful politicians know about productive compromise."
A wealth of dissenting information in these quotes! Since when did a shepherd of the Church site opinion instead of her teaching? It doesn't sound as though that has happened. He is following and teaching the tenets of our faith.
It reminds me of those moments in the classroom when I was in Catholic elementary school. Remember when the student next to you was scolled for his bad behavior? And then he continued to disrupt the class to which the teacher decided that all would be punished because the teacher had enough? Well, that's whats happening now. We are all getting the lesson because others choose not to follow the teacher.
It is so very sad. Our prayers continue!

Catholic Charities-Issues
I too have deep issues with Catholic Charities U.S.A.
I have raised my concerns with others over the years and today I found these items to support my findings.
My issues stem from the fact that there are so many that have their "hand in the pot" (i.e. the religious nuns-Sisters of Mercy) while openly and arrogantly dissenting Holy Mother's teachings. For shame on all those that lead others away from the Holy Mother Church. Woe to them, those that have been given much.
I offer the following for your discernment:
Catholic Charities USA-Advocacy
Catholic Charities USA-Who We Are pdf. file
Catholic Charities-Parish Social Ministry Training Calendar
Catholic Charities-Parish Social Ministry Training
Catholic Charities Pres. Rev. Larry Snyder- "Father Snyder earns a salary of $180,000 in his new role."-??
Catholic Charities-program("tentacle")-JustFaith-Creator & Director-Jack Jezreel (scroll down)-"Google"-JustFaith + Dissent= Catholic Action Network. (scroll down)
More here too on J. Jezreel, with one of my buddies--from Mount St. Agnes (MSA/RSM'S)--Carol Lee Flinders at a CTA conference giving a homliy?!!
(I can't follow the pics.-I don't know if that is her giving a homily) Of course these people are all hanging together with those I know here in Birmingham.
I knew they were all sitting up in that tree---those birds-"Birds of a feather...."
So you see there are large issues here.
And then this came from Deal Hudson-"The Window"-titled article-"Boston's Catholic Charities Honors Public Dissenter"-
"Catholic Charities in Boston is continuing to steer a steady course away from Church authority. Invitations for the Catholic Charities annual Christmas dinner were recently sent out naming their honoree, Boston Mayor Tom Menino. Menino has distinguished himself with his public support of abortion and gay marriage. He is often quoted in the press bashing pro-life lay groups, politicians and theologians."
And another hat tip to Carrie Tomko for this article by James Fitzpatrick, since I believe it sums up the "words speak" by liberals.
We all have to use the discerning gifts that have been bestowed upon us by OUR LOVING FATHER.

The "Red Mass" in Washington
"The Red Mass that took place at St. Matthew's Cathedral in Washington is in its 52nd year and is sponsored by the John Carroll Society, named for America's first Catholic Bishop. The service is held the Sunday before the opening of each new Supreme Court term; it stresses the unique responsibility of those involved in the justice system and the courts. Washington's Archbishop Theodore McCarrick gave today's sermon."

Prayer for John Paul II's Intercession
"Prayer for John Paul II's Intercession"
"O Blessed Trinity, We thank you for having graced the Church with Pope John Paul II and for allowing the tenderness of your Fatherly care, the glory of the cross of Christ, and the splendor of the Holy Spirit, to shine through him. Trusting fully in Your infinite mercy and in the maternal intercession of Mary, he has given us a living image of Jesus the Good Shepherd, and has shown us that holiness is the necessary measure of ordinary Christian life and is the way of achieving eternal communion with you. Grant us, by his intercession, and according to Your will, the graces we implore, hoping that he will soon be numbered among your saints. Amen."

Nevermind the Failure of the EU Constitution
"For example: The Greater Yellowstone Coalition, a group of affiliated NGOs, recently petitioned the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO asking for intervention in the plans of a private company to mine gold on private land near Yellowstone Park. The UNESCO Committee did intervene, and immediately listed Yellowstone as a "World Heritage Site in Danger." Under the terms of the World Heritage Convention, the United States is required to protect the park, even beyond the borders of the park, and onto private lands if necessary."
They'll get in the "back door" now.
"The ideas being discussed, if implemented, will bring all the people of the world into a global neighbourhood managed by a worldwide bureaucracy, under the direct authority of a minute handful of appointed individuals, and policed by thousands of individuals, paid by accredited NGOs, certified to support a belief system, which to many people is unbelievable and unacceptable."
I don't think people are aware of what's happening with these people. The author is right, the Masons can't hold a candle next to the The Bilderbergers.

Again, Where's the Outcry?
"C4 manager Andrew Szusterman, who bought the show before the BBC reversed its decision to screen it, says there’s nothing sacrilegious about Popetown - if there were, he wouldn’t have bought it. "It’s just satire. It’s about laughing at ourselves and the different religions that we are around the world and not treating it so seriously. Perhaps we’re just living in very PC times."
"Or perhaps not. Since C4 signed on the dotted line, Popetown has been picked up by networks in Europe and Australia and Ox is confident it will be sold to networks in the US."
Let's keep an eye out for this one folks! Maybe someone can alert Catholic League's-Bill Donohue.
We can make a difference if we can find out about it first before it even makes it here in the U.S.

Where's Newsweek Now?!
"Saudi Arabia's religious police arrested eight Christians, including one who was beaten in front of his 5-year-old son, according to a Washington, D.C.-based human rights group."
Where's Newsweek now when we need them? They screamed outrage over the alleged flushing of a religious book but are they going to investigate and report the atrocities committed against Christians-human beings?
"One year ago, religious police imprisoned a Catholic foreign worker, Brian O'Conner, for "preaching Christianity" and allegedly selling drugs, though the famly insists the charges are trumped up and his only "crime" was to be seen praying."

"Brazile appeared to ridicule the Catholic Church while noting that she did not expect her local bishop to contact her to give her political talking points. What about you?" she said."

Embryo Adoptions & Catholics
"The Vatican has not yet taken a stand. But if Pope Benedict XVI rules against embryo adoption, as some doctrinal conservatives expect, it could create a fissure between Catholics and evangelical Protestants, who have enthusiastically promoted embryo adoption and enlisted the White House's support for it."

President at the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast
"Catholics have made sacrifices throughout American history because they understand that freedom is a divine gift that carries with it serious responsibilities. Among the greatest of these responsibilities is protecting the most vulnerable members of our society. That was the message that Pope John Paul II proclaimed so tirelessly throughout his own life, and it explains the remarkable outpouring of love for His Holiness at the funeral mass that Laura and I were privileged to attend in Rome. It explains why when the men were carrying his wooden casket up the stairs, and they turned to show the casket to the millions that were there, that just as the casket crests, the sun shown for all to see. Shall we go to the map?
"Show up Everywhere: The truth is we're reaching out all over the place. We are talking to people. I have spoken with evangelicals. I have visited with some of the Catholic hierarchy in this country. We are going to do some more of that. I've been to 18 states. Of those, eight of them have been red states. We're trying to get our message out everywhere. We are going to go after the Republican--what they think is the Republican base. We're going to go after red states. There are some of those states that we can win. "

"Having Itching Ears"...And the Sacrilege Against HIM
II Timothy 4:3-5
3 For there shall be a time, when they will not endure sound doctrine; but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears:
4 And will indeed turn away their hearing from the truth, but will be turned unto fables.
5 But be thou vigilant, labor in all things, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill thy ministry. Be sober.
Gay clergy: A liberalconservative divide of biblical proportions
"Conservatives have argued from the beginning that the crucial issue for them is the authority of Scripture. Liberals have replied that the issue is not whether Scripture is authoritative, but how it is read. Both positions are, of course, correct. How you read a biblical text depends on what you think of it, and what you think of it is influenced by how you read it."
And this one- the sacrilege AGAINST HIM -
"After the sash wearers were denied, Sister Donna, the Parots and Garcia approached the altar and received Communion. To the surprise of some, including the sash wearers, the four then approached the sash-wearer's and gave them a portion of their consecrated hosts."
The Fatima Prayers
O my God, I believe, I adore, I hope and I love Thee. I ask pardon for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope and do not love Thee. Most Holy Trinity - Father, Son and Holy Spirit - I adore Thee profoundly. I offer Thee the most precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifferences whereby He is offended. And through the infinite merits of His Most Sacred Heart and the Immaculate Heart of Mary I beg of Thee the conversion of poor sinners. O my Jesus, I offer this for love of Thee, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary. O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fire of Hell, lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who have most need of Thy mercy. Amen.

Geomagnetic Storm-Fatima and Pentecost
Need I say more?
"Possible impacts from such a geomagnetic storm include widespread power system voltage control problems; some grid systems may experience complete collapse or blackouts. Transformers may experience damage. Spacecraft operations may experience extensive surface charging; problems with orientation; uplink/downlink and tracking satellites. Satellite navigation may be degraded for days, and low-frequency radio navigation can be out for hours. Reports received by the NOAA Space Environment Center indicate that such impacts have been observed in the United States."

Mount St. Agnes' -Sr. Mary Aquin O'Neill & NBC
"Thousands of women and men from around the country have “visited” Mount Saint Agnes in cyberspace and literally hundreds have taken the time to write in about how proud they are (mostly Sisters of Mercy), how comforted they are (to know that such a place as this theological center for women exists) and how grateful they are (to have witnessed a feminine model of how to speak the truth in a strong and clear voice). One of the many things that I learned from this experience is that there are legions of Catholic news junkies who make Meet the Press part of their Sunday obligation. Many see the show before or after Sunday mass. One called it his “political bible.”
I pray that the HOLY SPIRIT will intercept all communications with these women.
Father GOD please hear and answer my prayers to shut these women down from continuing their disobedience to YOU FATHER GOD and their harm that they are causing to the BODY OF CHRIST.
"The responses we have gotten to the very fact of our existence have been edifying to say the least. Some have even used the opportunity to donate funds in support of our work."
St. Michael intercept this function of financial support- please.
"One woman from southern California wrote, “Your temperate and hopeful tone was a light in the darkness. It helps me remember that I am not alone and that the Holy Spirit has many voices.” Another fan of the show, after hearing Mary Aquin’s response to the women’s ordination question, thought people must have sat up and said: “’Wow, what was that?’ Because you did not say the predictable thing at all, you brought it right back to the crucial issue that ‘the faithful’ have got to be part of all these decisions.” '
The HOLY SPIRIT DOES NOT HAVE MANY VOICES! The enemy DOES!

Fallacies That Confront Benedict XVI
"How many winds of doctrine we have known in these last decades, how many ideological currents, how many fashions of thought?" he asked. "Every day new sects are born and we see realized what St. Paul says on the deception of men, on the cunning that tends to lead into error." At the same time, for believers to uphold the values of their faith "is often labeled as fundamentalism," he noted. As a result, "relativism, that is, allowing oneself to be carried about with every wind of 'doctrine,' seems to be the only attitude that is fashionable."
If you can't follow and stand for CHRIST then you will fall for everything-everything that either comes down the pike or blows in the wind.

Mount Saint Agnes Theological Center for Women-Investigated
"I'm grateful for an opportunity to return to the question of truth. Truth is another name for God and so it cannot be something that we possess. It's something that we hope to dwell within. The truth is always larger than we are, greater than we are. And it is not something that we can attain by ourselves. This is why we need the community."
I am quite familiar with this group of dissident women that just want to make sure "the church"/the "people" receive the sacraments-"she isn't of the theology of women priests", she just wants to make sure "we the church/people" have the sacraments, because without the sacraments there is no church.
"The people are hungry for the sacraments, and without the sacraments, we don't have the church. Now, one proposed solution is to ordain women, but my concern about it is that too much of the argument makes it seem that in order to prove our equality, we must be ordained. And that would mean that the ordained are somehow higher and better than the laity. That's a theology I do not accept."
Really?! What about this goddess Litany/worship you are apart of?
Does this look like they follow the teachings of the Church, but first and foremost does it look like they follow CHRIST?
This is truth?

CyberAlert-Media Research Center on Pope Benedict XVI
I am quite disappointed to see this report. I'm glad I didn't hear or watch it.
"On Tuesday night's Special Report with Brit Hume on FNC, Mort Kondracke of Roll Call channeled the harsh left-wing line that the new Pope was "appalling," and a tyrant: "He said in his homily, on the death of Pope John Paul, that the world faces the menace of a dictatorship of relativism. And what he seems to represent is a dictatorship of certitude."

"Lawyer Who Presented CT Scan & Medical Evidence in Court Analyzes Autopsy Results in Terri Schiavo Case"
Ms. d'Angelis claims she will be available to interpret the anticipated Medical Examiner's report on the late Terri Schiavo."
Found this over at"-"Renaissance Lawyer- "background on those who have generously volunteered their time, opinions, and expertise". Look at the Renaissance Lawyer site.
Transformational Law?--"the traditional model of law, there is a growing movement toward a new design of legal practice and new theoretical approaches."
Transforming Practices--Steven Keeva-and he is an assistant managing editor of ABA-American Bar Association
(the total PICTURE becomes quite clearer now!)
What are they transforming to? FAQ'S here.
"A practicing attorney for over 20 years, Constance d'Angelis is a published writer and public speaker on integrity and ethical issues. She is the visionary and creator of Loving Lawsuits - a new methodology to transform the adversarial nature of the legal system and replace it with non-invasive solutions that heal the source of conflict. She is a new breed of spiritual evolutionists who believes by integrating mind/body/spirit principles into the legal process, transformations will occur that heal and leave no casualties. She is dedicated to this transformation as a contribution to mankind's personal growth, mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.Constance has developed a series of seven CDs and practical workbooks to educate people on the process of transforming conflict into an opportunity for growth and success through a new, healing empowerment process. Constance has chaired numerous arbitrational panels for the NASD (National Association of Securities Dealers). She is a faculty member of University at Sea. HIS Mercy and Love
So much has been taught again this week by John Paul II even in and after his death.
In his Homily Cardinal Ratzinger explained the Mercy that our Holy Father taught us was not only in his own life (assassination attempt) but in his teachings of St. Faustina's message of mercy from CHRIST in instituting Divine Mercy Sunday-displayed even in his own death-the vigil of Divine Mercy Sunday. He again taught us in the instituting of the Year of the Rosary and the introduction of the new Rosary Mysteries-the Luminous Mysteries.
GOD'S mercy again shown THROUGH HIS MOTHER. And of course lastly IN THIS YEAR OF THE EUCHARIST.
It's ALL HERE!
MERCY AND LOVE- supreme sacrifice -WORTHY of GOD'S LOVE and strengthened by the MERCY OF GOD in continuing on our journeys in HIS SERVICE in whatever vocation we are called to.
"He interpreted for us the paschal mystery as a mystery of divine mercy. In his last book, he wrote: The limit imposed upon evil "is ultimately Divine Mercy" ("Memory and Identity," p. 60-61). And reflecting on the assassination attempt, he said: "In sacrificing himself for us all, Christ gave a new meaning to suffering, opening up a new dimension, a new order: the order of love...It is this suffering which burns and consumes evil with the flame of love and draws forth even from sin a great flowering of good." Impelled by this vision, the
pope suffered and loved in communion with Christ, and that is why the message of his suffering and his silence proved so eloquent and so fruitful.Divine Mercy: the Holy Father found the purest reflection of God's mercy in the Mother of God. He who at an early age had lost his own mother, loved his divine mother all the more. He heard the words of the crucified Lord as addressed personally to him: "Behold your Mother." And so he did as the beloved disciple did: he took her into his own home;" (John 19:27)
- Totus tuus. And from the mother he learned to conform himself to Christ."

JPII and an Eclipse of the Sun
Did St. Malachy predict final popes?
"John Paul II was de labore solis, from the labor of the sun (with no clear explanation, although perhaps there is a connection in that he was born the year of an eclipse, and also: his working devotion to the "woman clothed with the sun")."
Then see this info: On April 8th the burial/funeral of Our Holy Father John Paul II--
"On April 8th in North America crescent-shaped sunbeams will dapple the ground during a partial solar eclipse."
Be not afraid
More on the Republican's supposedly "Terri's Memo"
There's a reason people think that the Terri Schiavo "talking points memo" was written by Republicans.
"Yet no Republican senator has been identified as having received the memo and according to ABC and the Post, their original stories did not go so far as to suggest the provenance of the memo."
Proof:
"From the facts we now know: The memo was distributed by Democratic aides to reporters; the fact that it was also distributed to some Republicans would hardly be newsworthy--although, in fact, we are aware of no Republicans who have seen it. But somehow, as noted, the document has been widely described as a "GOP talking points memo.""
WHAT EXACTLY DID THE POST SAY ABOUT THAT MEMO?

JOHN PAUL THE GREAT
This is now a part of my core being-it has reached my soul and I promise from here forward that I will always hear this in my heart, mind, and soul. In my humble opinion this is why he is the greatest POPE!
"He was telling people behind the Iron Curtain to be not afraid, but, in a deeper sense, he was telling all of humanity to be not afraid."

As I prepare for the Divine Mercy Hour--"they" give me great reason to ask and give forgiveness. This can only strengthen me in my virtues and in holiness, for I get to forgive...not just 7 times, but 7 x 77. Plenty of opportunity to offer these people to OUR LORD and HIS MERCY.
Matthew 18:21-22
Then Peter approaching asked him, "Lord, if my brother sins against me, how often must I forgive him? As many as seven times?" Jesus answered, "I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times.
"BE NOT AFRAID!"
I advise all to make sure that they study the writings Our Holy Father John Paul II left for us, most especially this document:
"On the Dignity and Vocation of Women (Mulieris Dignitatem) APOSTOLIC LETTER ON THE DIGNITY AND VOCATION OF WOMEN MULIERIS DIGNITATEM PROCLAIMED BY HIS HOLINESS"
JOANNES PAULUS II, 1920-2005
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Thank you Holy Father for all that you have done to nourish us on our own journeys!
