(July 25) The House of Representatives is continuing debate on spending measures for fiscal year 2008 this week. Last night, Members passed the transportation, housing and urban development appropriations bill (H.R. 3074) and today, they are expected to take up the commerce, justice, and science spending proposal (H.R. 3093). As reported to the House floor, both bills already contain a provision offered by Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) requiring Federal government contractors to participate in the Basic Pilot program.
Last night, Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) offered a successful amendment to the transportation and housing bill (it was adopted by an overwhelming margin [362-3]) that prohibits any funds in the bill from being used to facilitate U.S. participation in the Security and Prosperity Partnership or to create an international highway between Mexico and Canada. The SPP – entered into by the heads of state of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico in 2005 – seeks to "streamline" movement across our borders and, as such, would eliminate the notion of "illegal immigration" and, consequently, would increase the inflow at our borders. Rep. Hunter also is planning to offer this amendment as a revision to the commerce, justice, and science (CJS) appropriations bill.

We have to have an agreement in place to accomplish this!????VICTORIA: Mexico, the United States and Canada Monday signed a five-year agreement they said will increase energy security, boost the economy and protect the environment. US Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman called the agreement signed in the western city of Victoria a "milestone" on the road to "a strong, unified North American energy market."
In a joint press release, Bodman, Mexican Energy Secretary Georgina Kessel, and Canada's Minister of Natural Resources Canada Gary Lunn, said it was the first science and technology agreement in North America, where three-way energy trade is worth 150 billion dollars.
The Victoria pact will stimulate innovation and increase energy capacity, Lunn was quoted as saying. Multinational cooperation will bring down the cost of new technologies, including the next generation of nuclear power, he added.
The agreement seeks to accelerate the development of biofuels, gas hydrates, hydrogen, enhancing carbon capture and storage, cleaner coal and transmission of electricity.
In addressing concerns about the environment, Mexico's Kessel said the "challenge in North America is to make the use of energy compatible with economic growth and the preservation of the environment."
The ministers also pledged to work on common standards for energy-efficient consumer appliances, and announced a joint workshop on the issue in Mexico in September.

The protesters drew the ire of clinic director Gloria Gray, 57, whom police arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. She posted bail immediately and was not booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail.
Although police said they did not have details about the incident Tuesday afternoon, The Associated Press reported that Capt. Greg Kosloff said Gray was arrested after she disobeyed officers who told her to go back inside during an argument at the protest.A staff member asked about the incident said the clinic had no comment.

Senate Democrats Sneak "Hate Crimes" Bill into Crucial Defense Bill
Christians to lobby senators on 'hate crimes' bill
GET THE WORD OUT!
To defeat SB 5, A Rose and a Prayer has led regular prayer vigils since January, mobilized tens of thousands of Delawareans to call their legislators, and delivered more than 4,000 roses to Legislative Hall, each labeled with the name of a single constituent who opposed the bill. One of the hallmarks of A Rose and a Prayer is the strong working relationships developed between Catholic and Evangelical Christians to defeat the bill.
This is the second time A Rose and a Prayer has defeated legislation that would have legalized human embryonic stem cell research in Delaware. In 2006, A Rose and a Prayer orchestrated an 8-day, 2,400-person prayer vigil, the delivery of 2,500 roses from constituents, and as many as 25,000 constituent phone calls to legislators. As a result of those efforts, SB 80 was stripped of all mention of human embryos.

[snip]Doctors could soon be storing essential medical information under the skin of their patients, the American Medical Association says.
[snip]The association adopted a policy Monday stating that the devices can improve the "safety and efficiency of patient care" by helping to identify patients and enabling secure access to clinical information.
VeriChip Corporation Announces American Medical Association Recommends Implantable RFID Devices to Improve the Safety and Efficiency of Patient CareThe association warned of "potential social consequences" such as using the devices for surveillance which could be an infringement on individual liberties.
It recommended that the devices not be implanted without the informed consent of patients and that doctors monitor their use.
VeriChip anticipates that the AMA's recommendation will enhance the Company's marketing efforts by accelerating the adoption by hospitals of the VeriMed Patient Identification System and increasing the profile of the VeriChip among the medical community.
Riitta Leinonen, noted witchcraft expert and owner of "Hexeria" affirms that the books have pushed the once-occult practice into the entertainment sphere. "The Harry Potter phenomenon shows that there are also positive, and not only malicious, forces in sorcery and that innocent magic can be a good thing," she said. "Witchcraft is benefiting from the Harry Potter effect."
But while children may be Potter's targets, they're not the only takers. One highly visible adult internet witchcraft school credits Rowling as a promoter of Wicca in a press release, stating, "Harry Potter has rekindled interest in beliefs that were already growing in the United Kingdom and United States for more than fifty years, and that belief is a faith called Wicca."
[snip]Gheen said at least two senators told him, face to face, they knew nothing of developments taking place under the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America agreement the U.S. has with Canada and Mexico in which a broad range of government functions are being streamlined.
Gheen wants citizens to target seven key swing votes in addition to their own senators: Democrat James Webb of Virginia and Republicans Richard Burr of North Carolina, Thad Cochran of Mississippi, John Ensign of Nevada, Judd Gregg of New Hampshire and Norm Coleman of Minnesota.
My question too!But perhaps what's most shocking is the White House's inclusion of a quote from National Council Of La Raza chief executive Janet MurguÃa. This is a group with a radical agenda that has ties to the "Reconquista" movement to reclaim the western portion of the United States. This article by the late Rep. Charlie Norwood blew the lid off many of La Raza's activities. Why is the White House legitimizing this organization?

Practical Steps to Solving Immigration, American Identity, and Border Security
A Roman Catholic nun quit her teaching job rather than comply with what she called an "insulting" demand for a letter declaring her a practicing Catholic.
I'm sure this will continue...
Unfortunately, too many Christians have been deceived to think that our duty to love and care for illegal aliens means that we should ignore immigration laws and disregard our borders. But as President Ronald Reagan once said, "A nation without borders is not a nation." Our borders are compromised by illegal immigration, infiltration of terrorists, and by government policies of regional partnership that actually dilute the sovereignty of the United States. The choice is not between our Christian duty and our border laws – it's a matter of life or death for our nation.
These are the best arguments that I've seen so far for those that use the 'emotion' card when debating the issue. The same God who commands that we treat aliens and "strangers" with righteousness and justice also clearly defined the physical borders for the nation of Israel, in detailed geographical terms, in Numbers 34. Israel, then and today, would not exist without borders—and neither will America.
Byrne added that the national ID system will become as much a part of the fabric of public life as the railways in the 19th century or the national grid in the 20th century.
He described the system as "another great British institution without which modern life, whatever it looks like in 2020, would be quite unthinkable".
VeriChip Corporation (NASDAQ: CHIP), a provider of RFID systems for health care and patient-related needs, announced today its wholly owned subsidiary, Xmark Corporation, will present at the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation Conference and Expo in Boston, MA, on June 16-18. The conference attracts over 1,500 health care technology management professionals.
The company does not yet have a presence in Northwest Florida and is focused on getting the system adopted by more hospitals before it tries to sell it directly to customers.
Rod Whiting, marketing director Gulf Coast Medical Center, said getting correct information on a patient was a concern in hospitals all over the nation. But he was against the idea of implanting an information chip in someone’s body.
“First of all, just because the technology is available does not mean it is a technology (that) needs to be used,” Whiting said.
