Comin' Home?

No change on Anglican womanpriests expected
The Archbishop of Canterbury said that newspaper reports of any doubts over ordination of women are wilfully misleading.
The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Rowan Williams has dismissed as “wilfully misleading” newspaper reports that he is doubtful over the ordination of women to the priesthood, has ever felt that the ordination of women priests had been “'wrong” or believes that a revisiting of the question is likely, necessary or desirable.

Speaking during a visit to Manchester, Dr. Williams declared his continuing support for the ordination of women to the priesthood.
So there ya' have it! No change!

"Dr. Death" & his "Plastinarium"-Disgusting!

"Beauty salon for the dead" opens in Germany
"I am a dresser of corpses who takes corpses and turns them into useful objects. This is an extension beyond death of the trend for beauty treatments," he said.

The eccentric man, invariably seen sporting a wide-brimmed hat, told reporters at the opening of his new center that the slices of bodies which he sells to schools and universities were no different than a slice of meat sold on a slab.

This is so very disgusting!

Father Tadeusz Pacholczyk, Ph.D. comments in his article:
Bodies in plastic, morally problematic?
The exhibit is billed as an educational exhibit, teaching people about the internal structure and organization of their own bodies. As the director of the exhibit phrased it, “My aim is to illuminate and educate through the beautiful arrangement” of bodies. Yet some people find the exhibit “edgy,” causing more than a tinge of discomfort, and they wonder whether there aren’t ethical concerns associated with putting the human body on display in this way.

[ Editor’s note: The Body Worlds exhibit is on display at Boston’s Museum of Science now through Jan. 7, 2007]

Victory for Pro-Life Medical Professionals

Statute Protecting Pro-Life Medical Professionals Survives Court Challenge

A U.S. federal appeals court has upheld the dismissal of a lawsuit brought by a pro-abortion group challenging an amendment that protects pro-life medical professionals from discrimination. The Weldon Amendment, which was signed into law in December 2005, is a federal statute that bars the U.S. government or state and local government entities receiving certain federal aid from discriminating against doctors and other medical professionals who refuse to perform abortions or who refuse to refer patients for abortions. The amendment faced a legal hurdle just days after it was enacted -- a court challenge brought by the pro-abortion National Family Planning and Reproductive Health Association (NFPRHA).

[snip]

Pro-family leader Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council (FRC), is
commending the legal defense that helped secure a pro-life victory in National Family Planning and Reproductive Health v. Gonzales. "While the number of doctors who oppose abortion has increased," he observes, it is thanks to attorneys like those at the Alliance Defense Fund and the Christian Legal Society that these pro-life medical professionals' vulnerability to lawsuits has not increased as well.

"The targets of the abortion movement have grown well beyond the unborn and now include pro-life doctors and nurses," the FRC spokesman points out. "These days, they too need protection -- from members of their own profession."

The Weldon Amendment "protects those who, based on personal convictions, refuse to perform or refer for abortions," Perkins notes. He agrees with the legal representatives who defended the statute, he says, "that doctors should not be held hostage to perform procedures that violate their religious beliefs."

Vatican reaffirms celibacy for priests

Need I say more?

VATICAN CITY (AP) -- The Vatican on Thursday reaffirmed the value of celibacy for priests after a summit led by Pope Benedict XVI that was spurred by a married African archbishop who has been excommunicated from the Roman Catholic Church.

"The value of the choice of priestly celibacy, according to Catholic tradition, has been reaffirmed," the Vatican said in a brief statement summing up the three-day hour meeting of top Vatican prelates.

Banking on Indian Umbilical Cords

An Indian blood bank plans to take advantage of the country's booming birth rate by opening a repository for blood taken from umbilical cords.

But critics worry that without proper oversight, the massive bank could put a price tag on umbilical cords, putting the country's millions of impoverished women and
children at risk of exploitation.

Cord blood is used in the treatment of many ailments, especially blood diseases like leukemia, thalassemia and sickle cell anemia.

With 43 million births a year, India is poised to be the largest supplier of umbilical cord blood in the world.

LifeCell, based here, hopes to open a cord-blood bank in December. The bank would serve anyone in the world with access to FedEx.

Susan G. Komen Foundation & Planned Parenthood

Susan G. Komen Foundation funding abortion

While we see all the pink ribbons all over the place-on grocery items - from cereal boxes to yogurt, lets remember where the $$ is going.

The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation donated $25,000 to Planned Parenthood of Central and Northern Arizona, after the fundraiser Race for the Cure raised $1.8 million last month. The money was designated for programs providing "breast health education and early cancer detection in Coconino, Gila, Maricopa and Yavapai Counties."

And while I'm on this subject--make a note of groups that are asked to raise money for this "worthy cause". For example: Sororities are assisting the Susan G. Komen Foundation-as their National Philanthropy and in other fundraising functions.

[snip]

The Phoenix diocesan newspaper, with endorsement from the bishop, is urging area
Catholics to petition for an end to abortion clinic funding by the local branch of one of the largest breast cancer foundations in the country.

USCCB & Update-MHR in San Francisco

As the USCCB wraps up their fall session with their documents...
(Bishop Bruskewitz was awesome--he reminded the conference of their place in the Church-
Problems continue to brew again....Fr. Stephen Meriwether RETURNS!
Welcome Back, Fr. Steve!
Fr. Steve returns for good this week from
his stint in Minnesota!
Welcome home!
"Veil Tip" to--The Lair of the Catholic Cavemen & Curt Jester to see if the scandalous pictures (Gay Pride Parade 2006) are removed from their site.
Look at their resources site. While I was awaiting Fr. Meriwether's (quick) return I happened upon this "lovely" article. Read what he thinks (2004) in interview-
Cross purposes - "The Vatican is about to issue a new directive condemning homosexuality and keeping gay priests out of the Catholic Church. In San Francisco, that would threaten one of the most vibrant Catholic parishes. "
(funny how timely this is today and obviously, the bishop's document today doesn't effect Fr. or the S.F. archdiocese either!)
On MHR:
For some, "Mass" became an ironically named, long-running Sunday-evening dance
party – and a religious experience of another kind.
[snip]

But since the ascension of Pope Benedict XVI this spring, and the move of San Francisco's Archbishop William Levada to Rome, the future of gays in the Catholic Church, and at Most Holy Redeemer, is very much in question. The new pope's record "has been one of unrelenting, venomous hatred for gay people," said Matt Foreman, head of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force. And that, coupled with the uncertainty of whom Pope Benedict will appoint to replace Levada as archbishop of San Francisco, has some MHR parishioners worried. "Now, more anxiety," Hopke said. "The new archbishop is like a 'gulp,' The pool of candidates is so conservative. I think we're going to have some tough times ahead."

[snip]
I guess they haven't been tough enough....the times that is...Most Rev. George H. Niederauer, D.D., Ph. D what is happening?
[snip]
Still, on a recent Sunday morning, Hopke and his group were in front of the Blessed Virgin Mother statue in the bright sunlight. More people were arriving. "God's inclusive love proclaimed here," the parish bulletin said. They clumped in groups of three or four on the sidewalk. Chatting. Laughing. Before mass, at the top of the big stairs leading to the sanctuary, Meriwether stood greeting the arrivals. The parishioners renovated the building in 2000 and rearranged the sanctuary so it would seem less daunting. The pews now surround the altar on three sides so the priest can stand out in the middle of the congregation.
[snip]
Most Holy Redeemer's organizers say that about two thirds of the 900-member congregation is gay or lesbian. Almost all the members are people who call themselves "cradle Catholics," people who were brought up in the Church.
But many, usually when they started thinking of themselves as gay, drifted away.
Now, they say, they've come back because Most Holy Redeemer welcomes them.
[snip]
"Which of course frightens even people at MHR. They're always wondering, 'When is it going to happen to us?" " Meriwether told me. "Because they can't be happy with us.... I think the diocese would like to see us keep a very low profile.... What does that mean, you're supposed to crawl under a rock? You can't ask people to do that. It's a very ambivalent attitude."

Meriwether thinks that even though the Vatican's policy on gay priests hasn't been released yet, "what they're saying is that if you're willing to deny it, then that's OK."
What the archdiocese could easily do, Meriwether said, is to muzzle the congregation by forbidding members to march in the gay pride parade, which they do every June, and by forbidding them to place their advertising in gay newspapers like the Bay Area Reporter. By making them less visible, it could push MHR's parishioners back toward the closet and again make the people whom the Church drove away once, painfully reconsider their decision to come back. And it could cause those people a lot of pain.

"Most Holy Redeemer is a real flash point for conservative Catholics," Meriwether said.
[snip]
If the archdiocese came down hard on Most Holy Redeemer, how would he feel? "Very compromised.... As pastor, yes, you have to uphold the teaching and the discipline of the Church, but you also have to be a father to your parishioners," he said. Would Most Holy Redeemer be closed entirely? Ironically, because MHR isn't financially successful, that seems unlikely. Meriwether said that, at least in part because, unlike Saint Brigid, which had about $750,000 in its bank account when it was closed, MHR still owes for the 2000 renovation – about a million dollars.
It does not appear to me that they have been shut down at all!
And the real reason it won't get shut down.....$$$$!

Gay history month in city schools seen part of trend

I know how I missed this one...the elections! That took this right off the radar. But I'm already familiar with their "game plan"--GLSEN. And btw...DO NOT turn a blind eye to this group! Either group. They do have $$ and NEA is quite strong!

The surprise addition of Gay and Lesbian History Month to the Philadelphia public school system’s October calendar has caused concern among local parents, and may be a harbinger of things to come.

DUH! They've "been coming"!

[snip]

Some of the fuel behind the movement is coming from what many believe is an overly cozy alliance between the National Education Association (NEA) and gay activist organizations, such as the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), the nation’s leading pro-homosexuality education group. “GLSEN is very closely aligned with the Gay-Lesbian caucus inside the NEA,” said Jeralee Smith, a California school teacher and the outgoing chair of the NEA’s Ex-Gay Educators Caucus.

“When the NEA’s Gay Lesbian Caucus started, I’m sure they wanted to see a gay president in charge of the NEA,” Smith said. “Well, that happened when Bob Chase became president. Chase was outed as a gay man by the Washington Blade around the end of his term as NEA president. “It was during Bob Chase’s presidency that the Sexual Orientation Task Force was initiated, giving a whole arm of NEA leadership to gay-lesbian-bisexual-transgender (GLBT) causes,” Smith said. “In 2002, a 60-page document detailing NEA’s support of GLBT causes was adopted by the NEA executive committee, and handed to NEA delegates as a report which, technically, didn’t even require a vote.”

"New Version" of Bible

Here we go again...
Controversial “politically correct” version of the Bible published in Germany
According to the AFP news agency, the new version of the Sacred Scriptures was presented at a book fair in Frankfurt. Entitled, “The Bible in a More Just Language,” the translation has Jesus no longer referring to God as “Father,” but as “our Mother and Father who are in heaven.”Likewise, Jesus is no longer referred to as the “Son” but rather as the “child” of God. The title “Lord” is replaced with “God” or “the Eternal One.” The devil, however, is still referred to with masculine pronouns.

*UPDATE-Jerusalem Gay Pride Event

At least they won't be parading through the city...this still isn't good. Their intent is still obvious.

Closed event to replace gay parade in Jerusalem on Friday

Parade organizers announced that the parade was officially cancelled, and pending final logistical arrangements the gay pride event will no longer consist of a march through Jerusalem's streets, rather a closed event at the stadium at Hebrew University's Givat Ram campus.

[snip]

Meanwhile, religious opponents of the parade were holding what they have called a "March of Beasts" on Thursday afternoon.

The protesters were leading cows and horses along the route plotted for the gay parade, Army Radio reported. The High Court of Justice denied four petitions asking to ban the so-called march of beasts.

Changes in Israel Policy - Getting Out of Iraq

DEBKAfile Exclusive: The White House intimates to Israeli PM that his scheduled visit to Washington next Monday, Nov. 13, would be untimely

According to this official, the Baker-Hamilton panel is charting drastic changes in administration policy on Israel, whose speedy implementation is recommended as the key to extricating the US from its imbroglio in Iraq. Hinging the solution of Middle East problems as a whole on the Palestinian-Israeli issue has always been the Democratic way. It is favored in particular by Nancy Pelosi of California who, as her party’s candidate for next Speaker of the House of Representatives, will become one of Washington’s most influential politicians.

Terror Plot

U.S. cities were target of August airline plot, FBI says

A group of alleged terrorists arrested in London in August planned to blow up airliners over U.S. cities to maximize casualties, rather than over the Atlantic Ocean as many intelligence officials originally thought, according to recent remarks by a senior FBI official.

Where was this information last week? It could have been used to display the urgency and seriousness of the war on terror?

Another Update: Jerusalem Gay Pride Parade

Jerusalem gay pride march likely to be postponed: police
But, it could be postponed until next week. We continue to pray that it does not take place. But not due to violence.

Police in Israel were placed on a heightened state of alert Wednesday after Palestinian militant groups vowed to resume suicide attacks inside the Jewish state, following the deaths of 18 people, mostly women and children, from Israeli shelling in Gaza.

[snip]

On Wednesday the Vatican joined in the fray, voicing "bitterness" about the march and expressing "its strongest disapproval for such an initiative which constitutes a serious affront to the feelings of millions of Jewish, Muslims and Christian believers," in the Holy City.

The Threats Continue from Around the World

Hamas Leader Calls Off Israel Cease-Fire

Hamas' exiled leader on Wednesday called off a cease-fire with Israel and militants threatened to attack Americans after 18 members of a family, including eight children, were killed in an Israeli artillery barrage on a densely populated Gaza neighborhood.

U.S. Supreme Court - Abortion

Justices Have Pointed Abortion Discourse

In an intense morning of arguments, lawyers for the Bush administration and supporters of abortion rights gave starkly contrasting views: A law passed by Congress labels it a gruesome and inhumane practice. Supporters argue that such abortions in the second trimester of pregnancy sometimes are the safest for women.

A man in the audience began shouting midway through the proceedings, disrupting the hearing briefly before police dragged him away.

Seven justices took part in questioning both sides about whether the court should defer to congressional findings that these abortions are never medically necessary. Abortion advocates disagree, saying there is strong medical evidence to the contrary.

Fr. Euteneuer's View on Election 2006

Republicans' Loss of Pro-Life, Pro-Family Principles Translated Into Loss of Power

"If the Republican Party truly wants to know why they lost, they need only look in the mirror. The most vulnerable seats in both houses were those held by politicians who had abandoned the pro-life and the pro-marriage principles that first brought them to power.

In many states, voters turned out in large numbers to defend traditional marriage, but voters were not willing to support those who would not support their values. Some so-called conservative senators were all too happy to water down or jettison their 'unwavering' defense of the unborn in the name of political expediency and now they have paid the price. Self- described Reagan conservative George Allen bragged about owning stock in Barr Pharmaceuticals-the manufacturer of Plan B-and President Bush's shameful support of this deadly drug being sold over the counter deflated conservatives' support of many candidates.

In Missouri, Sen. Jim Talent fearfully refusal to come out against the state's cloning initiative not only resulted in its passage, but the loss of his Senate seat. Sen. Rick Santorum's race in Pennsylvania is also telling. Those who espouse 'conventional wisdom' will tell you that issues like abortion never decide a race. That's a lie, as evidenced by the fact that the Democrats purposely picked a pro-life candidate, recognizing that it would neutralize the greatest advantage Santorum had in his re-election bid.

The Giuliani-McCain-Romney wing of the Republican Party is responsible for this overwhelming defeat. If the GOP truly wishes to regain the trust of pro-life, pro-family conservatives, then they must look to leaders like Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.) -- who has never wavered on his principles or his defense of the innocent unborn -- as their model."

This says IT ALL! Now wake-up GOP! Focus on who your constitutes are and what THEY believe!

Now, we pick up our cross and move forward again!

Desperate Prayer Need!

Plea to let doctors kill babies with disabilities

SENIOR doctors are urging health professionals to consider permitting the euthanasia of seriously disabled newborn babies.

Secular or Sacred?

More on the Washington National Cathedral: Music and Meditation at the Labyrinth, Sermons, Centering Prayer Programs-more Centering Prayer info, "Save the Earth"-Double Feature,
Sacred Circles (and I see Carol Lee Flinders is presenting soon).

You gotta see where Darth Vader is placed in the Cathedral! Whoa! (Be careful--"Don't go over to the dark side" after viewing!) All the Star Wars fans must love this and make pilgrimages to the church (?). Cathedral-Self-guided tour- "Wacky Western Gargoyles". Virtual Tour.

To find Darth Vader you have to leave the building through the ramp entrance. This is located at the northwest corner of the nave, through the double wooden doors of Lincoln Bay. Go down the ramp, and step into the parking lot. Then, turn around and look back up at the tower closest to you. He is almost impossible to see without the assistance of binoculars.

I sure would hate to see the image of an Ipod or image of Amercian Idol-Taylor Hicks in the stained glass window or on a column!

This reminds me of the time we were visiting colleges with our college bound student. We visited the campus of "The University of the South"-Swanee in TN. When we arrived we were impressed with the outside architecture of the (Episcopal sponsored private college) chapel on campus. It is Gothic looking and we thought that it was pretty until we took the inside tour of the building and property.
Our guide directed us to look up at the newly renovated stained glass windows- "You can see the image of a VW"! What? Excuse me? See what? "Yes, the artist placed the image of a Volkswagen Beetle in the stained glass." Needless to say, I was the only person in the touring/visiting group of parents and possible students, that did not see the actual image. My husband did tho. My child does not attend this college even though they offered a full 4 yr. scholarship. Horrible. Need I say more?

So, this is where we got the labyrinths, centering prayer and columbariums!? Oops, I mean this is where the 'ideas' came from -Episcopals? Be on the look out in your local Catholic diocese for the following...labyrinths, centering prayer groups/retreats, secular items displayed in windows or architecture, and of course columbariums! See - centering prayer-yoga (more here) and the see-the columbarium- "for burial of ashes". So now we encourage cremation? Building an area for ashes adjacent or inside a Catholic Church (btw this is NOT near a cemetery)? What does the church say about this? Isn't this encouraging cremation by building this structure? They do charge for the space and there's plenty of room in the area cemetery for this structure. So then what is the reason for a columbarium?

Tom Cruise to Run United Artists
The development is a major comeback for Cruise and Wagner. They were unceremoniously dumped in August from their 14-year producing deal at Paramount Studios.

Does this mean Scientology will totally dominate films out of Hollywood? Gosh...does this tell me there are strong connections in this industry?

The Press and Scientology

The Times continues to examine Scientology critically. A story by Rachel Abramowitz and Chris Lee about the Tom Cruise-Katie Holmes relationship noted
that critics call Scientology a cult that uses mind-control techniques. The Times also noted the up-tick in Cruise promoting Scientology as well as the servile press reaction. When journalists recently set out to interview Cruise they were invited to long tours through different Scientology centers. The paper noted that "Access Hollywood" gave the actor a "hefty chunk of time to enthuse about his religion and spout off about a Scientology bête noire, the evils of psychiatry."

Israel May Scrap Planned Gay Pride March

A week before a planned gay pride parade in Jerusalem, the city's religious Jews are warning of possible violence and a government minister said the march might have to be scrapped to keep the peace in the holy city.

[snip]

"This march is a ruthless assault on traditional Jewish values and the sanctity of Jerusalem," said Mina Fenton, an Orthodox member of Jerusalem's City Council who has led the fight against the parade. More than 100,000 people will attend a counterdemonstration on the day of the march should it be allowed to go ahead, she said, and violence was a possibility.

Please Lord...may this be totally stopped!

The Tide is Turning...

Abortion records reveal cases of suspected child rape, incest

Attorney General Phil Kline had waged a months-long courtroom battle against the abortion industry, which sought to keep the 90 case records concealed. But the records now are being reviewed by investigators after being forwarded to Kline from a district court judge who edited them to hide the identities of the women involved.

[snip]
But he noted that state records confirm in 2003 alone, 78 girls under the age of 15 had abortions in Kansas. By law, that amounts to 78 cases of sexual assault on a child, or worse.
[snip]

Kline's pursuit of the records began shortly after he was elected in 2002, and he noticed a peculiarity of laws in most states and jurisdictions.

"Nobody has been willing to enforce the abortion laws against Planned Parenthood," he told WND during a recent interview. And some of the situations just screamed for attention.

For example, when there are abortions performed on children as young as 10, by law and by definition there has been a sexual assault on a child. In Kansas a person under 16 legally cannot consent to sex, and abortions cannot be performed past 22 weeks. However, those cases simply weren't being reported, he said, even though state law requires officials who are in a position to know the circumstances to report such crimes.

Happy All Saints Day!

Virtue and holiness. We are ALL called! Even when we fall...we have GOT to get back up, just as the saints did before us. Don't let the sins of others keep you from staying close to JESUS! Know that! Breathe this! Believe this! Do not let any one keep you from HIM in HIS PRECIOUS BODY AND BLOOD, SOUL AND DIVINITY! The reason for the types of behavior we have witnessed and continue to witness every day stems from the denial of sin and the thought or belief of "Non serviam". Each and every one of us have to get past that and remember to pick up the cross and carry it the rest of the way...not just for ourselves but for the whole world! And GOD knows each of us can (I do) ask for the grace-daily- to do this. Honor that grace and move forward keeping your eyes on HIM! HE'LL always HONOR that action too!
HIS PROMISE IS WORTH ALL OF IT!
Go to the "Litaniæ sanctorum"- "To download an mp3 of this litany prayed in Latin, right click here and choose "Save Target As." 1 "
One more thing...You can obtain a PLENARY INDULGENCE applicable to the Souls in Purgatory, the 1st to the 8th of November every year!!

Here is the indulgence:

What happened in S.F. in 2003?

"Switch Hitters Ball"

When? Saturday June 21, 2003 6:00 - 11:00
Where? Ellard Hall, Most Holy Redeemer Parish 100 Diamond St. at 18th St.
How much? Tickets: $12 in advance, $15 at the door.

San Francisco Gay Softball League

Does anyone know who was pastor in 2003? And more to the point who was the Archbishop?

More on the S.F. "Busted Bingo"

If it weren't enough that this was almost going to take place...one more horrendous item found-according to this event announcement--Fr. Meriwether's parish MHR benefited from the first "Bingo" event: "Our first beneficiary will be the Sisters' Grant Fund and Ellard Hall."

Bingo bust: The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of San Francisco

Scroll down...

The infamous devotees in drag have been calling out the numbers at the church's Ellard Hall for the last two months, but when church higher-ups learned of the game, they pulled the plug. Maybe it was the Sisters' past spats with the church over their annual Easter bash. Or maybe the emcee who was supposed to work bingo that night -- "Peaches Christ" -- was just too much. Whatever the case, the church isn't talking except to say that the game is out of the hall. Sister Barbie Mitzvah, chair-nun of the bingo bash, said the group was "stunned and deeply saddened" by the ouster.

More-Not All Publicity Is Good Publicity

Unfortunately, some people caught wind of the fact that they were holding it in the fellowship hall of Most Holy Redeemer Catholic Church -- and notified the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, which has a long history in regards to the Sisters. As a result, it seems, the Archdiocese of San Francisco has has put the kibosh on using the church hall, just in time for the November 2nd event.

I don't see anything here. So I guess the faithful Catholics on the internet might have "caught the fire of the Holy Spirit" and made the difference--starting with Mark Shea and his reader that alerted him of the upcoming events (See-Thursday, 10-26-06) "Unleash the Power of the Blog" ....but shhhhhhhh!! We have to be quiet while we go about the FATHER'S BUSINESS!

[snip]

Losing the venue is bad enough. However, according to my phone call, the likelihood is high that the event will be canceled -- not just because of the loss of venue, but because the event is apparently being used for negative pre-election publicity.

Nah....don't think so...but you could be right since Mrs. Pelosi is a friend to this area....hmmmm...maybe the word was put out there..."don't stir up the Christians"!?

[snip]

I'll update with further details as I receive them.

I will do the same! You can count on it!

Verification-"Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence" Denied Use of Hall

REVIVAL Bingo Has Lost Its Lease

It looks like the SPI Revival Bingo has been completely shut-down for this week and for next month's previously scheduled event. YEA GOD! Now what will the archdiocese do about future? We wait and pray that all will come to HIS TRUTH!

On October 31, 2006, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence were informed that we could no longer rent Ellard Hall by the Parish Council President, Nick Andrade. This was both a shock and a surprise as we have worked very closely with Most Holy Redeemer Church to provide fundraising services for both the Church and other beneficiaries.
[Snip]

WHY DID BINGO LOSE ITS LEASE?
At this time, we do not have any information on why we lost our lease. We ask that you be fair and kind to members of the Church and hold no hard feelings to them or their congregation. We want to thank you for your support and look forward to bringing back Bingo as soon as possible for both the players and the revenue it generates for our beneficiaries. Our official statement regarding this unexpected cancellation of our lease as follows:

SAN FRANCISCO, 31 October 2006 — The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are stunned and deeply saddened by the Archdiocese of San Francisco's abrupt cancellation of their lease for Ellard Hall, the location of their charitable monthly bingo fundraising event. The Sisters want to apologize to the organizations that depend on our support, including the AIDS Emergency Fund and the Positive Resource Center. Both of these worthy organizations were to be the recipients of this week's proceeds, however due to today's decision by the Archdiocese, we will no longer be able to hold bingo. The Sisters would also like to apologize to the SFPD Pride Foundation, UCSF AIDS Health Project, Saint James Infirmary and Tenderloin Tessies Holiday Feed, all of whom were scheduled to be beneficiaries for future bingos. And, of course, the Sisters extend our apologies and regrets to the many players who purchased tickets and were anticipating many more joyous evenings of fundraising. The primary mission of The Sisters is involvement in and support of the local community. This includes working with and supporting many local community organizations whose ability to serve their constituency is dependent on contributions from charitable groups like the Sisters. Without the thousands of dollars raised by the consistently sold-out monthly bingo event, their services may be cut at a time when charitable giving is more critical than ever. The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence believe that our commitment to giving is in alignment with the philosophy of the Archdiocese of San Francisco, which represents a cross-section of the San Francisco population. It is unfortunate and extremely disappointing that this appears not to be the case, and that our shared values cannot overcome our differences of opinion when it comes to how we serve the community.

I don't think that masquerading and parading around on Catholic diocesan church property blaspheming the Catholic Church and displaying this behavior near the Blessed Sacrament while on the same property is "shared values"! The ends DO NOT justify the means! Charity!? Please! Where is their charity in their displayed and deplorable antics against Holy Mother Church and Christianity!?

Archdiocese of S.F. Stops "Revival Bingo"

(See "Denial of Sin" previous post below-10-27-06)

Statement by the Archdiocese of San Francisco:
Permission to use Ellard Hall should not have been given to the group. The Archdiocese of San Francisco has directed the parish to end the arrangement immediately. For years the group has directed contempt and ridicule at Catholic faith and practices. The particular targets of the group's derision are women in religious communities, for whom Catholics, and many non-Catholics,have a special reverence and respect.

Your Excellency,
Please speak with Rev. Stephen Meriwether-Chancellor of your archdiocese and Pastor of Most Holy Redeemer Church in regards to the sinful, scandalous, and deplorable event Revival Bingo scheduled for Nov. 2 on the MHR property-Ellard Hall. A group well-known locally, nationally, and internationally Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (SPI) is scheduled to use this property to hold a charity fund raiser this week and is currently scheduled for Dec. 7th. (they also used the property last month Sept.7) and apparently the Ellard Hall/Church property has been used before (6-21-2003) for another function http://www.sfhustlers.com/events.html--"Switch Hitters Ball".

I am so very scandalized by this behavior and ashamed that such deplorable and blasphemous actions would take place where the presence of OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST RESIDES--the Tabernacle-IN HIS TEMPLE! I plan to alert the Vatican, the USCCB, and others of this unseemly and scandalous behavior against the BODY OF CHRIST.

I ask that you please inform Fr. Meriwether to cease and desist this type of use of diocesan property and in fraternal charity/correction please advise him NOT to participate in the scandalous behavior recently demonstrated in a Gay Pride Parade held this past Spring (2006). He presents confusion not only to his "flock" but to the rest of the world in these pictures displayed on the MHR home web-pages: http://www.mhr.org/pride2006.html. I also beg that these images be removed from the public domain of the inter-net as they too present great scandal and offense to the Body of Christ-good Catholics and holy priests. This behavior also gives our priests great sorrow and anguish as they currently defend their vocations (Priesthood Sunday). I also request action to be demonstrated to the faithful that this scandalous behavior or any other scandalous behavior will not again occur in the future in your archdiocese. Please know that lay Catholics world-wide await and pray for an immediate response and correction to this situation.
Thank you for your time.
In Christ,
XXXXX

I can only hope and pray that these events will not continue to occur in this diocese or this country! GOD HAVE MERCY!

"Chipped"- Credit Card Q & A

Spychipped Credit Card Q & A
Q. Does my credit card contain an RFID tag? How can I tell?
A.
Call your credit card company and ask if your card contains an RFID tag. RFID tags are so small and thin that they can be hidden within the
plastic. An RFID tag communicates by silent, invisible radio waves. If you don't ask, you might never know that your card can beam back information like your credit card number, name etc. The exception is the American Express Blue card. You can see the RFID tag through the clear plastic.

Today-Priesthood Sunday

Please take a moment to reflect on all the priests that have brought the sacraments to you. Why not send them an uplifting note of support and encouragement and of course thank them for accepting their calling to their vocation. Remember we would not have Christ in the Eucharist with out their presence!

Our Lady of Fatima please keep your sons close to your Immaculate Heart -protect them and guide them.

Why?

Our first reason for proposing a Priesthood Sunday is to affirm the priesthood in the life of the Church. Because there are fewer priests, people see less and less of them. Young people are not offered the opportunity to get to know priests. The explosion of lay ministers in pastoral ministry has lessened the visibility of the priest in the community. The role of the priest has shifted since Vatican II, causing some confusion about the place of the priest in the life of the Church. Our proposal seeks to reaffirm the priesthood of Jesus Christ and its central place in the life of the Church.

Second, in the wake of the clergy sex abuse scandal, there has been concern that all priests have been tainted by the actions of a few. Some organizations and parishes have attempted to counteract this negativity. “Priesthood Sunday”sends a message to Catholics and non-Catholics everywhere that the parish priest, as the instrument of Christ’s priesthood on earth, should be loved and respected by those in the parish community.

Michael J. Fox on ABC

You can see the interview here-Michael J. Fox Fires Back at Critics and read the transcript. Michael J. Fox admits he hasn't read the entire wording of the MO admentment:

Stephanopoulos: In the ad now running in Missouri, Jim Caviezel speaks in Aramaic. It means, "You betray me with a kiss." And his position, his point, is that actually even though down in Missouri they say the initiative is against cloning, it's actually going to allow human cloning.
Fox: Well, I don't think that's true. You know, I campaigned for Claire McCaskill. And so I have to qualify it by saying I'm not qualified to speak on the page-to-page content of the initiative. Although, I am quite sure that I'll agree with it in spirit, I don't know, I— On full disclosure, I haven't read it, and that's why I didn't put myself up for it distinctly.

More from the USCCB Before Their Nov. Meeting

Bishops Draft Rules Ministering to Gays

Bishop Arthur J. Serratelli of Paterson, N.J., the chairman of the bishops doctrine committee, which wrote the new guidelines, said that although it was difficult to predict whether it would pass, “It’s a very sound document, a very clear document. My sense is that the bishops will readily embrace it.”

Gay Catholic leaders who had read the draft, however, predicted that it would only further alienate gays and their families from the church.

“There certainly is some lovely language that sounds welcoming in here,” said Sam Sinnett, president of DignityUSA, an organization for gay Catholics, “but essentially they’re repeating all the spiritually violent things they’ve been saying about gay and lesbian Catholics for a couple of decades — that we are ‘objectively disordered’ and our relationships are intrinsically evil.”

Why am I Catholic?

Blasphemy Planned Again in Jerusalem

Jewish groups mobilising to stop Jerusalem’s Gay Pride parade

Parade is scheduled for November 10. Counter demonstrations and protests are
being organised. Police might stop everything for security reasons.

We pray and hope that it will be stopped--period!

In July Israel’s chief Sephardic rabbi, Shlomo Amar, had called on Benedict XVI for help to stop Gay pride celebrations in Jerusalem.

In his letter, Rabbi Amar had said such an event would “violate and humiliate” the Holy City.

Israel’s chief Ashkenazi rabbi, Yona Metzger, had also demanded that the “parade in the Holy City of Jerusalem be cancelled.”

In recent days, survey results released during a meeting of the Knesset’s Internal Affairs Committee indicated that among secular Jews, 63 per cent oppose the parade; 81 per cent of conservative Jews are opposed, 99 per cent of National Religious are opposed; 100 per cent of Orthodox are opposed; and 92 per cent of Arab Muslims and Christians are opposed.

"Quotes to Note" from Physicians for Life:
“We have heard a great deal about stem cells lately. There are two basic types: stem cells gathered by killing human embryos, and stem cells from adults or from the placenta or umbilical cord of newborn babies. We need to promote the use of umbilical cord & placental blood stem cells, and adult stem cells, because these are morally and ethically acceptable. The people of America need to be made
aware that not one person has to date been "cured" using stem cells from human embryos. On the other hand, adult or placental stem cells have been used successfully in thousands of medical

Good or Bad News in N.J.?

NJ Court Stops Short of Gay Marriage OK

New Jersey's highest court ruled Wednesday that gay couples are entitled to the same rights as heterosexuals, but that lawmakers must determine whether the state will honor gay marriage or some other form of civil union.
The high court gave lawmakers 180 days to rewrite marriage laws to either include same-sex couples or create a new system of civil unions for them.
The ruling is similar to the 1999 decision in Vermont that led to civil unions there, which offer the benefits of marriage, but not the name.

What? Vote on Iraq Withdrawal?

Some Cities Will Vote on Iraq Withdrawal
In Gloucester,Massachusetts...and in other states...
Voters in several cities in Wisconsin and Illinois will consider a similar question.
Organizers said they do not expect the results to turn U.S. policy around. But they said the outcome could at least make the growing anti-war sentiment clear to the policymakers.

More on the MO. Cloning

Cloning amendment enriched by one source

The so-called "coalition" that is seeking a state constitutional amendment to protect human cloning and embryonic stem-cell research is being financed almost exclusively from one bank account - that of James and Virginia Stowers.

Campaign finance reports filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission reveal that the Kansas City billionaire couple has contributed about $15.4 million of the $16 million raised since last fall by the so-called "Missouri Coalition for Lifesaving Cures."

Adrienne Hynek, director of the Kansas City-St. Joseph Diocesan Respect Life Office, said that James and Virginia Stowers are using their personal wealth to rewrite the state constitution.

"The Stowers are funding 95 percent of this effort," Hynek said. "They are effectively attempting to purchase a state constitutional amendment that would create an unprecedented and unregulated constitutional right to clone human life simply to turn around and destroy it.

"Missouri is a national leader in the defense of life," Hynek said. "If voters allow one wealthy couple to rewrite the Missouri Constitution at the expense of life, this would set in motion a new and dangerous trend in our state and quite possibly the nation."

Pay attention to the rest of the info./list in the article and act accordingly. Talk to your friends and family in MO. Get the word out as this is a foreshadowing moment!

Euthanasia - Dignitas

The husband who helped his wife to die

But although he would trade everything for one more day with the woman he was
married to for 45 years, he insists he doesn't regret the way in which she died — at Dignitas, the Swiss suicide clinic (translated pg.)

More telling...

Last week, however, the injunction was lifted and the family are finally at liberty to talk. Their story provides a unique insight into the emotive issue of assisted suicide.
It shows just how rapidly the concept of euthanasia has become acceptable to many people in our society — barely five years since motor neurone disease victim Diane Pretty was denied the right to die, first putting the issue in the headlines.

Reasons for Early Motherhood - Don't Delay!

Women risk passing infertility to children if they delay motherhood

Women who delay having children could be condemning their daughters to the heartbreak of infertility, warn researchers.

A new study suggests older mothers may bequeath a devastating legacy by passing on biological flaws that will make it more difficult for their own daughters to get pregnant.

Dramatic findings from a US study of almost 80 women undergoing fertility treatment shows those who failed to conceive had older mothers than those who succeeded.

I knew that there were more reasons to have children at an earlier age. I have often thought the earlier the better because sleep, energy, & stamina are hard to come by after 30+ yrs. of age.

GAY SAINTS? (slide show) & a supposed Calendar of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Saints ? THIS IS TOTALLY DISGUSTING! I'm also referring to the "Introduction"-why priests would have taken the name"Mary":
As a general point, and taking a pointer from modern literary studies about the different ways different readers read the same texts, there is for many Catholics an inbuilt "queerness" to Catholicism: the distinct Christian teaching that gender is irrelevant to salvation; religious women going around with men's names; an extraordinary number of men called "Mary" (St. John Vianney for instance)!....
The rest of church "queerness" history is blasphemous! I have to wonder what the point is for me to even post this information other then to inform, but it has to be known that this behavior, action and thought permeates many parishes around the U.S. and in Europe. We can only pray for these people and make sure that the wolves do not take the sheep! LORD have mercy!

Jesuit University Embraces Heresy and Hypocrisy, Honors Known Apostate Priest, Says Group

The Rev. Thomas J. Euteneuer, STL, president of Human Life International, issued the following statement in response to Georgetown University Law Center's announcement that they have established the Robert F. Drinan, S.J., chair in Human Rights:

"It is deeply disturbing that a university that claims to honor and perpetuate the Catholic faith would establish a human rights chair in the name of a heretical priest who has spent much of his lifetime advocating for the most heinous of human rights violations: abortion. Sadly, Georgetown University -- a Jesuit institution -- has a long history of mocking the Faith, including hosting pornographer and social degenerate Larry Flynt and at one point removing crucifixes from the classroom in spite of student protests to keep them.

Fr. Drinan --From the Wanderer-"Who Should Be Denied Communion?" May 13, 2004

"There we have it, from the mouths of men who crafted the policy: Abortion was not thrust on unsuspecting Catholic leaders from outside, it was these very leaders who were maneuvering in the background to effect the change a decade before the Supreme Court did most of the dirty work for them. With Fr. Drinan in Congress from 1970 to 1980, voting the extreme pro-abortion position and enjoying the fervid support of prestigious Jesuits in so doing, the fractured Catholic opposition was effectively neutralized and — in terms of elected officials — it never regained force.

"Although many Catholic pols justified their pro-abortion stance by claiming that it was their democratic duty to represent their constituents’ views instead of their own, in fact it was the overwhelmingly anti-abortion convictions of voters (early in the game) that prevented their showing their true pro-abortion colors until public sentiment had turned in their favor.

"Drinan, Kennedy, Dodd, Leahy, Mikulski, Murray, Kerry, Biden — these aren’t thoughtful pluralists reluctantly obliged to compromise with radical colleagues, they are red-in-tooth-and-claw full-throttle NARAL-celebrating ideologues. Far from comprising a threat to abortion rights, communicant Catholics were a necessary condition of their triumph.

"Long planned, hard won, fiercely defended, abortion-on-demand is the Catholic gift to American public life, perhaps our Church’s only enduring political achievement. Small wonder the bishops are terrified of Communion-rail catechesis."

More on Stem Cells-Catholic View

Catholic bioethics priest `cuts through spin' on stem-cell debate
Father Tadeusz Pacholczyk, director of the National Catholic Bioethics Center in Philadelphia, Pa., with a doctorate in neuroscience from Yale University, four undergraduate degrees in molecular and cellular biology, chemistry, biochemistry and philosophy, as well as two degrees in advanced theology from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome-dispels the notion:

"It is incorrect to say that the Roman Catholic Church is against stem-cell research," he said to begin his talk. "It is only correct to say the Roman Catholic Church is against embryonic stem-cell research. The ethical concerns differ with the source of the stem cells, because you do have to destroy an early and vulnerable human to get embryonic cells."

Father Pacholczyk stressed that the Catholic Church supports adult stem-cell research, and went on to clarify the difference between normal cells, such as skin cells, and stem cells.
