"A Rose and A Prayer"
A Rose and a Prayer Defeats Delaware Stem Cell Legislation in US Rep. Mike Castle's Home State
To defeat SB 5, A Rose and a Prayer has led regular prayer vigils since January, mobilized tens of thousands of Delawareans to call their legislators, and delivered more than 4,000 roses to Legislative Hall, each labeled with the name of a single constituent who opposed the bill. One of the hallmarks of A Rose and a Prayer is the strong working relationships developed between Catholic and Evangelical Christians to defeat the bill.
This is the second time A Rose and a Prayer has defeated legislation that would have legalized human embryonic stem cell research in Delaware. In 2006, A Rose and a Prayer orchestrated an 8-day, 2,400-person prayer vigil, the delivery of 2,500 roses from constituents, and as many as 25,000 constituent phone calls to legislators. As a result of those efforts, SB 80 was stripped of all mention of human embryos.

[snip]Doctors could soon be storing essential medical information under the skin of their patients, the American Medical Association says.
[snip]The association adopted a policy Monday stating that the devices can improve the "safety and efficiency of patient care" by helping to identify patients and enabling secure access to clinical information.
VeriChip Corporation Announces American Medical Association Recommends Implantable RFID Devices to Improve the Safety and Efficiency of Patient CareThe association warned of "potential social consequences" such as using the devices for surveillance which could be an infringement on individual liberties.
It recommended that the devices not be implanted without the informed consent of patients and that doctors monitor their use.
VeriChip anticipates that the AMA's recommendation will enhance the Company's marketing efforts by accelerating the adoption by hospitals of the VeriMed Patient Identification System and increasing the profile of the VeriChip among the medical community.
More warnings on H. Potter
Riitta Leinonen, noted witchcraft expert and owner of "Hexeria" affirms that the books have pushed the once-occult practice into the entertainment sphere. "The Harry Potter phenomenon shows that there are also positive, and not only malicious, forces in sorcery and that innocent magic can be a good thing," she said. "Witchcraft is benefiting from the Harry Potter effect."
[snip]
But while children may be Potter's targets, they're not the only takers. One highly visible adult internet witchcraft school credits Rowling as a promoter of Wicca in a press release, stating, "Harry Potter has rekindled interest in beliefs that were already growing in the United Kingdom and United States for more than fifty years, and that belief is a faith called Wicca."

Immigration: Big Business, La Raza, & the White House
My question too!But perhaps what's most shocking is the White House's inclusion of a quote from National Council Of La Raza chief executive Janet Murguía. This is a group with a radical agenda that has ties to the "Reconquista" movement to reclaim the western portion of the United States. This article by the late Rep. Charlie Norwood blew the lid off many of La Raza's activities. Why is the White House legitimizing this organization?

Practical Steps to Solving Immigration, American Identity, and Border Security

Immigration - Judge Roy Moore
Unfortunately, too many Christians have been deceived to think that our duty to love and care for illegal aliens means that we should ignore immigration laws and disregard our borders. But as President Ronald Reagan once said, "A nation without borders is not a nation." Our borders are compromised by illegal immigration, infiltration of terrorists, and by government policies of regional partnership that actually dilute the sovereignty of the United States. The choice is not between our Christian duty and our border laws – it's a matter of life or death for our nation.
These are the best arguments that I've seen so far for those that use the 'emotion' card when debating the issue. The same God who commands that we treat aliens and "strangers" with righteousness and justice also clearly defined the physical borders for the nation of Israel, in detailed geographical terms, in Numbers 34. Israel, then and today, would not exist without borders—and neither will America.

British life 'unthinkable' without ID cards
Byrne added that the national ID system will become as much a part of the fabric of public life as the railways in the 19th century or the national grid in the 20th century.
He described the system as "another great British institution without which modern life, whatever it looks like in 2020, would be quite unthinkable".

VeriChip - Presenting At Another Medical Conference
VeriChip Corporation (NASDAQ: CHIP), a provider of RFID systems for health care and patient-related needs, announced today its wholly owned subsidiary, Xmark Corporation, will present at the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation Conference and Expo in Boston, MA, on June 16-18. The conference attracts over 1,500 health care technology management professionals.
The company does not yet have a presence in Northwest Florida and is focused on getting the system adopted by more hospitals before it tries to sell it directly to customers.
Rod Whiting, marketing director Gulf Coast Medical Center, said getting correct information on a patient was a concern in hospitals all over the nation. But he was against the idea of implanting an information chip in someone’s body.
“First of all, just because the technology is available does not mean it is a technology (that) needs to be used,” Whiting said.

Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary
I, a faithless sinner, renew and ratify today in thy hands, O Immaculate Mother, the vows of my Baptism. I renounce forever Satan, his pomps and works, and I give myself entirely to Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Wisdom, to carry my cross after Him all the days of my life, and to be more faithful to Him than I have ever been before. In the presence of all the heavenly court, I choose thee this day for my Mother and Mistress. I deliver and consecrate to thee, as they slave, my body and soul, my goods, both interior and exterior, and even the value of all my good actions, past, present and future, leaving to thee the entire and full right of disposing of me, and all that belongs to me, without exception, according to thy good pleasure, for the greater glory of God, in time and in eternity. Amen.

The future? City plan for ID cards hits a nerve
The purpose of the card, which is available to everyone, but pitched to senior citizens, students, children and immigrants, would allow access to city libraries and parks, while a debit component would facilitate purchases at some 50 stores and payment at parking meters.
Documents needed to verify identification are the same as those required by banks to open accounts, so it is viewed as a way to get immigrants to use banks to make them less vulnerable to thefts.

MATT -Mexicans and Americans Thinking Together - What's this?
Watch this video too.
Instead of 'building walls' this 'foundation' - 'think tank'-proposes building a different wall altogether-
[snip]One of the major proposals incubated at MATT would provide unprecedented investments in small businesses in Mexico. Instead of spending $7 billion to build the impractical and un-American border wall, the money should be used to build a wall of wealth in Mexico that will benefit both nations.
A decade ago, U.S. officials funded a venture with Mexico called the North American Development Bank (NADBank). Based in San Antonio, Texas, this bank was created as a response to environmentalists who were concerned about the impact the new trade agreement would have along the U.S.-Mexico border. To date, this money has not been used effectively and much of it remains uncommitted.

Update...today info on what is taking place in Canada...Canada quietly paving way for national ID card
Look at what Michelle Malkin wrote in 2005 about the SPP...Welcome to "North America"The United States, the researchers say, appears to be driving these changes through three policy initiatives. One is the 2001 Canada-U.S. Smart Border Declaration. Another is the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP), initiated in 2005. The third is the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative, which will require Canadians to present a passport or other secure document when entering the United States.
And this from Judical Watch:New “Security & Prosperity Partnership” Records Reveal Proposal for U.S.-Canadian Funded Grants for Mexico
Michigan issues illegal aliens drivers licenses [and voter registrations?]....hmmmmm!The “work plan” details 24 specific “deliverables” by officials from the U.S. Treasury, Finance Canada, BANXICO, the Federal Reserve Board – Atlanta, and regulatory agencies from all three countries. The deliverables include “cross-border” cooperation in the areas of car insurance, Social Security totalization for Mexico, banking, and Federal Reserve’s “Directo a Mexico” remittance program.
Among the specific deliverables outlined in the “work plan” is a taxpayer-supported program to improve Mexico’s infrastructure: “Improve North America’s competitiveness by enhancing Mexico’s competitive position through the establishment of a grant fund for development with U.S. and Canadian resources to finance the development of physical infrastructure in Mexico.” The objective has a timeline for completion of 6-18 months.
And so what's such the hurry to get the Immigration Bill passed? Bush appeals for return of immigration bill --Something smells so very FISHY!
What do you think this is all about?"The president urged Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) to bring the bill back for another vote quickly and continued his pitch on some of its more controversial points."

NCReporter - DISSENT
This is what the Church is supposed to teach! IT IS NON-NEGOTIABLE!The Catholic hierarchy’s approach to abortion is, as the Vatican most recently described it, “not negotiable.” So not negotiable, in fact, that Catholic public figures, commentators and policymakers who express pro-choice views, or even voice support for contraception, risk public admonition and denial of Communion. I am concerned when bishops threaten to use Communion as a political weapon. Thank God only a tiny minority is so extreme as to threaten such an abuse of the sacrament.
LIFE -we have to defend IT always! And I beg to differ that there exists a 'tiny minority' that would 'use Communion as a political weapon'. WE have BXVI!
Until that happens, lay Catholics must take the lead and keep up the pressure on our policymakers to introduce policies that will be effective in reducing the need for abortion.
LORD HAVE MERCY!
Slaughter predicts passport failure
The Bush administration’s proposed requirement for passports to cross the U.S. border from Canada will not meet a Jan. 1 deadline and may never be implemented by a new administration, Rep. Louise M. Slaughter predicted Monday in Buffalo.
The Fairport Democrat called the idea “one of the biggest mistakes I think they’ve made — among many” and said there is “no way” the Department of Homeland Security can meet a Jan. 1 target when it hasn’t even determined whether it will require passports or ultimately settle on some other form of identification.

Catholic bishop calls deportation policies immoral
Opponents of illegal immigration have expressed concerns about the church lobby effort, arguing that church leaders are encouraging illegal behavior by ignoring the fact that undocumented migrants have violated federal immigration laws.
Barnes and Soto argue that the current immigration debate fails to make the connection between the economic system that encourages such migration and produces low-priced products and services.
"Those that have been given more," Barnes said, "have a moral obligation to help those with less."

Catholic teachers 'must take public vow'
This is strange...why would you send this around to parishes for comment? Maybe to float a balloon, or placate someone? This would be like me asking to take a vote on the 10 commandments. Give me a break. Or unless this is a way for the media to leak this info to everybody before it gets to the parishes. If momma and daddy are in charge they don't take a vote or ask comments from the children about how they're going to discipline them. Talk about misguided compassion. Cardinal Pell should say this is what we're going to do and stand by it! Don't ask for ANY COMMENTS! Craziness.
The Catholic archdiocese of Sydney wants its school leaders to publicly commit to a vow of fidelity by adhering to church teaching on homosexuality, birth control and women's ordination.
The vow would apply to its 167 principals, its deputy principals and religious education coordinators and would be a first for the Australian church, Fairfax newspapers report.
The Archbishop of Sydney, Cardinal George Pell, is behind the move to extend the oath - which is a requirement of church law for bishops, priests and heads of seminaries - to all senior educational leaders.
The requirement is contained in a draft pastoral plan circulated to all parishes of the Sydney archdiocese for comment.

Columbariums BANNED in Florida
Wiser heads are now prevailing...
Bishops don't want responsibility of caring for 'burial grounds'
Ahhh, too late...remember New Jersey's -Bishop Paul Bootkoski of the Metuchen Diocese? For a combination of earthly and theological reasons, the bishops have banned construction of new columbaria -- or cremation vaults -- at the state's Catholic churches. While funeral home directors like Dave Woodward, Holly Hill, say cremation is a popular trend in the funeral industry, Archbishop John C. Favalora of Miami said he worries about the legal ramifications of local churches taking on cemetery-like responsibilities.
"The care and tending of burial grounds is not a parish's primary mission, and its grounds are not set aside in perpetuity for that purpose," said the archbishop in an open letter last month. In a sentimental note, Favalora recognized that parish columbaria are "well-intentioned attempts to return to the ancient practice of having church members buried in the church yards."
But Catholic leaders also fear the parish columbaria will give the wrong impression that the church favors cremation over burials.
"This is what's happening today. This is the reality. It is the wave of the future."

I'm Confused! Catholic Crematorium?
"This is what's happening today. This is the reality. It is the wave of the future," said Bishop Paul Bootkoski of the Metuchen Diocese, which is building the crematory. "We're going along with what our Catholic population is looking for."
So, now dioceses are allowing columbariums and crematoriums? The Cathedral of another diocese has recently built a columbarium on their property and I understand that the diocese has allowed (& promoted-?)the building of Columbariums. I can't understand why this is being allowed. If we're teaching that cremation should not be encouraged then why are 'we' building them on church properties?

Evangelizing with a smile
"I am hopeful I can walk again, but I am more hopeful that God will restore in me what he wants to," Father Ogbuji told the Arkansas Catholic, Little Rock diocesan newspaper. "Even if he doesn't, I will still be the same person."Life is not just about physical appearances. It's much more than that," he added.
"Life is more about the image of God. It's about patience and understanding and accepting the will of God even if it conflicts with your own personal plans. Life is about service (even) if you are only able to smile at people. Even if I can't use my legs and limbs, I can smile and help people who are going through the same things."
