We have to have an agreement in place to accomplish this!????VICTORIA: Mexico, the United States and Canada Monday signed a five-year agreement they said will increase energy security, boost the economy and protect the environment. US Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman called the agreement signed in the western city of Victoria a "milestone" on the road to "a strong, unified North American energy market."
In a joint press release, Bodman, Mexican Energy Secretary Georgina Kessel, and Canada's Minister of Natural Resources Canada Gary Lunn, said it was the first science and technology agreement in North America, where three-way energy trade is worth 150 billion dollars.
The Victoria pact will stimulate innovation and increase energy capacity, Lunn was quoted as saying. Multinational cooperation will bring down the cost of new technologies, including the next generation of nuclear power, he added.
The agreement seeks to accelerate the development of biofuels, gas hydrates, hydrogen, enhancing carbon capture and storage, cleaner coal and transmission of electricity.
In addressing concerns about the environment, Mexico's Kessel said the "challenge in North America is to make the use of energy compatible with economic growth and the preservation of the environment."
The ministers also pledged to work on common standards for energy-efficient consumer appliances, and announced a joint workshop on the issue in Mexico in September.

The protesters drew the ire of clinic director Gloria Gray, 57, whom police arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. She posted bail immediately and was not booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail.
Although police said they did not have details about the incident Tuesday afternoon, The Associated Press reported that Capt. Greg Kosloff said Gray was arrested after she disobeyed officers who told her to go back inside during an argument at the protest.A staff member asked about the incident said the clinic had no comment.

To defeat SB 5, A Rose and a Prayer has led regular prayer vigils since January, mobilized tens of thousands of Delawareans to call their legislators, and delivered more than 4,000 roses to Legislative Hall, each labeled with the name of a single constituent who opposed the bill. One of the hallmarks of A Rose and a Prayer is the strong working relationships developed between Catholic and Evangelical Christians to defeat the bill.
This is the second time A Rose and a Prayer has defeated legislation that would have legalized human embryonic stem cell research in Delaware. In 2006, A Rose and a Prayer orchestrated an 8-day, 2,400-person prayer vigil, the delivery of 2,500 roses from constituents, and as many as 25,000 constituent phone calls to legislators. As a result of those efforts, SB 80 was stripped of all mention of human embryos.

VeriChip - Presenting At Another Medical Conference
VeriChip Corporation (NASDAQ: CHIP), a provider of RFID systems for health care and patient-related needs, announced today its wholly owned subsidiary, Xmark Corporation, will present at the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation Conference and Expo in Boston, MA, on June 16-18. The conference attracts over 1,500 health care technology management professionals.
The company does not yet have a presence in Northwest Florida and is focused on getting the system adopted by more hospitals before it tries to sell it directly to customers.
Rod Whiting, marketing director Gulf Coast Medical Center, said getting correct information on a patient was a concern in hospitals all over the nation. But he was against the idea of implanting an information chip in someone’s body.
“First of all, just because the technology is available does not mean it is a technology (that) needs to be used,” Whiting said.

Documents needed to verify identification are the same as those required by banks to open accounts, so it is viewed as a way to get immigrants to use banks to make them less vulnerable to thefts.

A 'Pass' in New Haven,Connecticut
City officials approved a plan Monday to offer illegal immigrants identification cards that would let them open bank accounts and use other services that may be unavailable without driver's licenses or state-issued IDs.

I'm all for people coming to our country and doing the right thing when they get here...but if we appeared at a bank without a license-ID and wanted to open an account, we'd be stopped in our tracks. That's discrimination against law abiding citizens. This is just one more reason the currently proposed Immigration Bill needs to be scratched totally! Contact your Senator and Representative today!

IT IS NON-NEGOTIABLE!The Catholic hierarchy’s approach to abortion is, as the Vatican most recently described it, “not negotiable.” So not negotiable, in fact, that Catholic public figures, commentators and policymakers who express pro-choice views, or even voice support for contraception, risk public admonition and denial of Communion. I am concerned when bishops threaten to use Communion as a political weapon. Thank God only a tiny minority is so extreme as to threaten such an abuse of the sacrament.
LIFE -we have to defend IT always! And I beg to differ that there exists a 'tiny minority' that would 'use Communion as a political weapon'. WE have BXVI!
Until that happens, lay Catholics must take the lead and keep up the pressure on our policymakers to introduce policies that will be effective in reducing the need for abortion.

Slaughter predicts passport failure
The Bush administration’s proposed requirement for passports to cross the U.S. border from Canada will not meet a Jan. 1 deadline and may never be implemented by a new administration, Rep. Louise M. Slaughter predicted Monday in Buffalo.
The Fairport Democrat called the idea “one of the biggest mistakes I think they’ve made — among many” and said there is “no way” the Department of Homeland Security can meet a Jan. 1 target when it hasn’t even determined whether it will require passports or ultimately settle on some other form of identification.

Catholic bishop calls deportation policies immoral
Opponents of illegal immigration have expressed concerns about the church lobby effort, arguing that church leaders are encouraging illegal behavior by ignoring the fact that undocumented migrants have violated federal immigration laws.
Barnes and Soto argue that the current immigration debate fails to make the connection between the economic system that encourages such migration and produces low-priced products and services.
"Those that have been given more," Barnes said, "have a moral obligation to help those with less."
