'Down Under' possible Church 'Wreckovation'

Bendigo Catholics rail over Cathedral renovations

Altar plans upset devout catholic
Sacred Heart Cathedral debate stirs emotion

After reading this one I felt a tad better that we were all in the 'same boat together' although it is quite unfortunate to be in the 'boat'...period!

Thank GOD for 92 year young, Miss Molly Brennan. Ya' gotta love her as she did not mince words!

"People who find the altar rails are interfering with their worship of God are already well served in Bendigo," she said.

"They have no justification, other than they claim it will promote a greater sense of community.

"That is quite childish and naive, not to say ridiculous. "Sense of community has very little to do with physical proximity."

Her best line...(this one line should reverberate around the Internet...forever!)

"I don’t think you can turn a catholic cathedral into a community hall. You can only turn it into a vandalised cathedral."

GOOD GOLLY, MISS MOLLY!!

Picture of the Aussie -Sacred Heart Cathedral on the right side of article.

I know that this is 'old news' (I just found the tour and pics. of the renovated church)...but look at their sister cathedral here in the U.S.- Rochester, N.Y.-Sacred Heart Cath.

Diocese Director of Communications Doug Mandelaro narrates a tour of Sacred Heart Cath. here.

(Whoa-how 'bout the 'coincidence' that her last name is Brennan....hmmmm...Michael Brennan was the Rochester resident-parishioner that took up a campaign to stop the Rochester- Sacred Heart renovation from taking place. He had a lot of documentation too. I wonder if they are distantly related...one could hope.)

Unfortunately, it looks like 'they got community' now!
Listen to the Intro. with the pictures -"it's an intimate place","a place where we can all gather"-because that's what it's all about!

*Notice the 'before' pics. inset with the new views of the interior of the church.

Look at the altar-a 'before' pic. shows the glory of GOD, but what does this altar display?
Listen again to 'tour guide'-Doug Mandelaro as he provides info about the "brand new altar"-
"something mandated by the church -bring the presider amidst the people"..."to bring the Word of God amidst the people"...again "creates an intimate worship setting". Is this written down somewhere in a church document? Nah...I never saw that info in my research. Never saw it in the Vat. II docs.either!

"Now put your right foot in,Your right foot out,Right foot in. Then you shake it all about. And then you do the Hokey Pokey Turn yourself around,That's what it's all about."

More room to dance...a Liturgical dance...you can move all the chairs.
Notice the most of 'before pic.' in lower left corner.

Sacred Heart Time Line-Archbishop Fulton Sheen's pulpit 'was once' located in this church, but
no mention is made by Doug Mandelaro ...gosh isn't there a canonization process started? Wouldn't you mention that in your description of the ambo?

I wonder if Fr. Vosko has been contacted yet? Hmmm? Miss Brennan loooook out!

San Francisco priest says Nancy Pelosi “not a Catholic in good standing”

Wrote Fr. Malloy in a letter published by the Chronicle on Jan. 9:

“What a joke! If Nancy wants to reclaim her Catholicity, she had best start by reviewing Catholic teaching. She said that she considered herself a conservative Catholic, but nothing is further from the truth. “She supports too many positions the church is against, beginning with pro-life issues: embryonic stem-cell research, gay adoptions, partial-birth abortion, funding contraception and U.N. family planning, same-sex marriage. She favors allowing minors to have an abortion without their parents’ knowledge. She is against making it a crime to harm a fetus while committing other crimes. She is against allowing funding for health providers who do not provide abortion -- which would close Catholic hospitals.

“She is not a Catholic in good standing with her church,” concluded Fr.
Malloy.

Pope Benedict XVI's Jesus Book

by Sandro Magister -The Next Battle For and Against Jesus Will Be Fought by the Book

"My interpretation of the figure of Jesus in the New Testament..."

by Joseph Ratzinger / Benedict XVI

I came to this book about Jesus - the first part of which I now present to the public – after a long interior journey. In the time of my youth – during the 1930’s and ‘40’s – there was published a series of exhilarating books about Jesus. I recall the names of just a few authors: Karl Adam, Romano Guardini, Franz Michel Willam, Giovanni Papini, Jean-Daniel Rops. In all these books, the image of Jesus Christ was outlined beginning with the Gospels: how He lived upon the earth and how, although He was truly man, He at the same time brought God to men, being one with God as Son of God. Thus, through the man Jesus, God became visible, and beginning with God one could see the image of the just man.

[snip]

While accepting all this as much as possible, I wanted to make an effort to present the Jesus of the Gospels as the real Jesus, as the “historical Jesus” in the real sense of the expression. I am convinced – and I hope that I can also make the reader aware of this – that this figure is much more logical, and from the historical point of view also more understandable, than the reconstructions we have had to confront in recent decades.

I maintain that this very Jesus – the Jesus of the Gospels – is an historically sensible and convincing figure. His crucifixion and the impact that he had can only be explained if something extraordinary happened, if the figure and the words of Jesus radically exceeded the hopes and expectations of his time.

More from the Polish Bishops...

Letter from Polish Bishops to the Faithful

In recent days," the prelates begin their letter, which was also made public in Italian and English translations, "we have experienced dramatic events related to Archbishop Stanislaw Wielgus of Warsaw resigning from office. ... With sadness, we have followed the accusations brought against him in recent weeks. ... We are grateful to the Holy Father Benedict XVI for his fatherly help in the difficult situation we face. Thanks to his resolve ... we are better prepared to live through this unusual time courageously and fruitfully."

The Polish bishops note that "not taking into account the widely accepted rule of the presumption of innocence helped to apply pressure to the accused archbishop, which did not make it easy for him to present public opinion with an appropriate defense, to which he is entitled."

Later in their letter, the bishops write: "We wish Ash Wednesday, February 21, to be a day of prayer and repentance for the entire Polish clergy. In all the churches in our dioceses services to the Merciful God should be celebrated for forgiveness of mistakes and weaknesses in the proclamation of the Gospel."

"We appeal to those in power and to members of parliament to ensure that materials found in the archives of the Popular Republic of Poland are used in such a way as not to encroach upon the rights of a human person and demean the dignity of man, and to ensure that such materials may be verified in an independent court of justice. Nor should it be forgotten that the documents incriminate their authors above all."

"We ask everyone to refrain from passing superficial and rash judgements, for they can be damaging. We mean especially those who work in the media. May Christian conscience and human sensibility suggest to them what should be presented to public opinion and how it should be done, always taking into account the dignity of the human person, and the right to defense and good name, even after one's death."

The Polish prelates conclude their letter: "We believe that our current experience will contribute to a renewal of the Church, to a greater transparency and maturity of her members. We believe that it will help the Church to be faithful to the Gospel
and look to it for solutions of our problems, to be reborn from it, in order to
be a leaven of good and love in the world."

More on the TX Embryo Bank

'Embryo Bank' Stirs Ethics Fears
"We're just trying to help people have babies," said Jennalee Ryan, who arranged for an egg donor to start medical treatments to produce a second batch of embryos this week. "For me, that's what this is all about: helping make babies."

Because I CAN and will! A complete defiance of GOD! The Creator of Life!
Does this sound familiar? The LIE!
"If I do discriminate, it's that I only want healthy, intelligent people," Ryan said. "People will say, 'You're trying to create the perfect human race.' But we've always done gene selection just by who women choose as their husbands and men choose as their wives. This is no different."

[snip]

The cost, convenience, prospects of success and ability to vet the donors all are attractive to Ryan's clients -- potentially not only infertile couples and single women but also gay men and lesbian couples.

"You get to get an idea of what your baby will look like, and it just seems like it's a lot easier and more affordable," said Joan, 42, of Birmingham, Ala., who asked that her last name not be used. She contacted Ryan after she was unable to get pregnant using three egg donors and becoming disenchanted by the prolonged process of trying to adopt a child or a leftover embryo. She and her husband want a sibling for their 3-year-old son. "I am not going to give up until I have another baby. This seems very, very attractive," she said.

'Your Ad Here' on side of Mahony's "the Rog Mahal"

When people talk about seeing holy signs, they don't usually mean "Your Ad HERE."
That was the message which appeared Wednesday evening as a 50-foot projected image on the bell tower of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, headquarters of the Los Angeles Roman Catholic Archdiocese.

Visible to thousands of commuters on a nearby freeway, the sign was gone the next day. It wasn't authorized by the archdiocese, spokesman Tod Tamberg said.

News - Bishop Stanislaw Wielgus - Poland

From Sandro Magister for Chiesa:The Wielgus Case: The Reasons for His Resignation

He was the new archbishop of Warsaw, and Benedict XVI had supported him almost
until the last moment. But then he ordered him to resign. There are many who have disappointed the pope – and some even in the Vatican

Polish bishop denies concealing communist-era cooperation from Pope Benedict XVI

The oath he made to the papal envoy in Warsaw in December:
In the oath, as quoted by the PAP news agency, Wielgus said “I swear to God” that during meetings and talks with the secret security and intelligence forces in the 1970s, “I never spoke against the church, nor did I do or say anything bad against any clergy or lay people.”

Walesa joins row over priests who spied for secret police

As the church braced itself for more damaging disclosures, the hero of Solidarity joined the fray by blaming the crisis on former communist agents - threatened with the loss of their public sector jobs by the present administration - and government 'populists and demagogues'. Walesa accused the former agents of trying, in effect, to blackmail the state with the revelation.

Pope furious as Polish launch new priest spy inquiry

The Vatican is alive with rumours that Giovanni Battista Cardinal Re, head of the Council of Bishops, will be the next victim of the affair, and that a satisfactory way to boot him upstairs is being contrived. After Bishop Wielgus's resignation, Cardinal Re declared: "We knew nothing about his collaboration". He was frankly not believed. "That was obviously rubbish", said one Vatican insider.

Top Polish Bishops' Files Face Review

A senior clergyman said Friday that Poland's bishops will request a review of their Communist-era secret police files and send the findings to the Vatican, following a new archbishop's abrupt resignation over disclosures he spied for the old regime.

Polish priest leads push to expose clergy who cooperated with secret police

Now, church leaders are bracing for the impending release of Rev. Tadeusz
Isakowicz-Zaleski's book about the secret police's penetration of the church in
Krakow. The reverend pored through secret police archives kept by Poland's Institute of National Remembrance and discovered that 39 Krakow priests had
collaborated with the regime. Four of them are now bishops, he said.

Hybrid Embryos Legal; Licensing Deferred

Creating hybrid eggs transfers nucleus from a mature human cell to a rabbit or cow egg without a nucleus, then stimulating the cloned egg to grow into an early embryo from which stem cells could be cultured. Genetically it would be more than 99.9 percent human.

Thank you Fr. John A. Hardon, S.J.!

Fr. helped me find the deep reason I 'blog'...Writing and the Spiritual Life.

The Charity of Sharing Our Souls.

Writing is a proved trainer of the tongue, to prevent us from failing in charity through speech.

But there is more to the practice of charity than merely avoiding failures against the virtue. Charity is, above all, sharing with another what I have, in order to enrich the person whom I love.

What is our dearest possession? It is the gifts of the spirit that the Holy Spirit has generously given to us. If I am to share these gifts of my soul with others, I must do several things:

Acquire as much grace as I can by reading, prayer and self-denial. From my record, I share — as occasion arises — with others what the goodness of the Lord has shared with me. It would be a good idea if we started keeping a written record of past experiences, interesting episodes, uplifting sentiments, whether our own or those received from others.

When God became man, He taught the people mainly through short stories — we call them parables. He wants us to follow His example. In practice, this means we should make a written memo of the parables in our own life, to share them with others and thus bring everyone we talk to closer to the Heart of Christ.

National Geographic - "In the Womb-Multiples"

Tomorrow (Sunday) night gather the family and friends-all children, adults, young and old to watch National Geographic (tv channel). They have a wonderful pro-life program on life in the womb. The program is about the life and development of triplets as they grow, wriggle, kick and move about in their "own private space". The images have been enhanced by computer "using revolutionary 4-D ultra-sound". I've seen a preview and it looks awesome. Check your local tv guide for availability and time, make a note and stick it on your TV.
And one more thing...why not offer a rosary or prayers before the program (while you have everybody in the same room) for an end to abortion and ask St. Gabriel the Archangel and the Holy Spirit to go out to inspire all to watch the program also asking that they open all hearts and minds to LIFE!

Human-Chip Company Plans IPO
While the NAIS remains voluntary on a federal level, and there is no formal people identification system as yet, both executives are moving aggressively to position their companies for the day when chips in animals and people are the norm rather than the exception. Mary Zanoni, a lawyer and critic of NAIS who has written extensively about the system, says that "the microchipping of livestock and pet animals is intended to make tagging more acceptable in helping these companies market their devices for people."

McGrath's company, Digital Angel (DOC), does nearly $60 million in annual sales and has sold several million chips for attachment to livestock, mostly in the U.S. and Canada.

Silverman's company,VeriChip Corp., is preparing for widespread marketing of its people chips with an initial public offering that it expects to complete within the next 60 days.

It has begun building what he refers to as "the infrastructure" by signing up more than 400 hospitals to adopt system scanners and databases and about 1,200 physicians to make chips available to patients likeliest to benefit from them, such as diabetics. ("The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has granted a patent for the product, which could serve a worldwide market of 230,000 million people with diabetes.")

While McGrath and Silverman aren't related, their companies are. Digital Angel and VeriChip have the same majority owner. Applied Digital Solutions (ADSX), the parent of seven smaller companies, owns 55% of Digital Angel and all of VeriChip.

FDA Probing Embryo-Production Service

Hmmm...playing GOD! GOD HAVE MERCY!

But Ryan, who runs the business out of her home in an upscale area of San Antonio, says the embryos are not "made to order" based on a client's eye or hair color preference. She said she plans to create embryos of several ethnicities.

"There's been this big hoopla about, like, you have this big list and you check 'blue eyes,' 'brown eyes.' That doesn't happen. They're already created embryos," Ryan said.

Ryan said she started the center last summer but doesn't hope to profit from it - and hasn't so far. She said it costs her $22,000 to create a batch of embryos and said her waiting list includes 300 potential clients.

"People say well, 'Is this ethical to do what you do? Is it moral to do what you do?'" Ryan said. "Is it ethical or moral not to do it when I have the means and ability to do it? Knowing that I can, should I continue listening to women lament that can't have children?"

LET US WORK TO BUILD AN INTEGRAL HUMANISM

Can someone explain this?

"Together, each in his place and with his respective gifts, let us work to build an integral humanism which alone can guarantee a world of peace, justice and solidarity."

Pope Urges Need for 'Renewed Humanism' (I would like to be able to see and read the entire homily to fully understand what was said by the Pope.)

"The need emerged to elaborate a new world political and economic order, but at the same time and above all, a spiritual and cultural one _ that is, renewed humanism," he said.

"At the start of the Third Millennium we find ourselves smack in the middle of this phase of human history, that has been for some time dubbed 'globalization.'"

The pope said that while politicians, scientists and researchers play important roles in the modern world, "today, more than ever, it is necessary to place at their side the leaders of the great non- Christian religious traditions" as well as Christian leaders.

More Insults About the 'North American Conspiracy'

Uh-huh....Dallas-based food chain to accept Mexican pesos

***Reminder***

The Plan to Replace the Dollar With the 'Amero'

The Case for the Amero:
The Economics and Politics of a North American Monetary Union
(1999)

On the day the North American Monetary Union is created--perhaps on January 1, 2010--Canada, the United States, and Mexico will replace their national currencies with the amero.1 On that day, all American dollar notes and coins will be exchanged at the rate of one US dollar for one amero. Canadian and Mexican currencies will be exchanged at rates that leave unchanged their nations' competitiveness and wealth. In all three countries, the prices of goods and services, wages, assets, and liabilities will be simultaneously converted into ameros at the rates at which currency notes are exchanged.

Why was this date thrown out there do you think? What would the purpose be to mention a date, if it weren't a true possibility? "Perhaps"? Does this guy know something that we don't? This doesn't sound like a prophesy...it sounds like something is already in the works.

Hmmm, somethings up with this one!

Brownback Supporters Line Up

Leading Massachusetts Social Conservatives Endorse Brownback
  • Professor Dwight Duncan of Cambridge, South New England School of Law

  • Carol McKinley of Pembroke, Founder, Faithful Voice
  • Christine Milbury of Sharon, Director, Pregnancy Services
  • Roderick Murphy of Southbridge, Treasurer, Life-Guard PAC
  • R.T. Neary of Medfield, Past President, Massachusetts Citizens for Life

Mr. Rod Murphy issued the following statement on behalf of the group: “As residents of Massachusetts and leaders in the ongoing struggle to preserve the institution of marriage and uphold the sanctity of life, we have seen the efforts of the liberal left here in Massachusetts to impose their agenda through judicial mandate. They have been able to impose their liberal agenda on the people because of the failure of our elected officials to stand up and fight.”

“In order to preserve traditional values and actually win back ground in the ongoing fight for our culture, we need a leader who can articulate and fight for our values with compassion, optimism, and consistency. We know consistent leadership when we see it. For this reason, Senator Brownback is the clear choice.”

I know that Brownback is in favor of amnesty for illegal aliens of which I disagree...so now what?

"Immigration Compromise"

Immigration debate gets religious

I totally disagree with Deal's signing of this "compromise" and am thankful that he and "Families First in Immigration" DO NOT officially represent me or my voice. Now, that said...it sure looks like Deal was won over by Pres. Bush to get on board with his immigration policy!

I have strong issues with this 1. He/they are disregarding all those that have entered this country legally and 2. the fact that Deal has "sold-out" too.

NCR - National Catholic Reporter

Have you noticed this week's NCR? Most of their online articles this week are only available to NCR subscribers...hmmm.

Yet there are a couple of articles available and this one is quite informative and a most recent entry/report on the resignation of Archbishop Stanislaw Wielgus from the Archdiocese of Warsaw, Poland, from John Allen-Archbishop of Warsaw resigns, Weigel warns of future 'blackmail'

Polish sources told NCR today that further revelations about the penetration of security forces into the Polish church during the Communist era are expected, including the possible release of a dossier on another sitting Polish bishop as early as next week.

American Catholic writer George Weigel, who teaches regularly in Poland and has extensive contacts in the Polish church, said the Wielgus episode illustrates the need for the church to deal with this chapter of its past.

"It has the responsibility to make a full public record using these materials in a responsible way," Weigel said in an interview with NCR this morning. "Otherwise, it will be open to media exaggerations and distortions, and perhaps international blackmail."

By that, Weigel said he meant the manipulation of similar revelations by forces which have an interest in undermining the moral authority of the Polish Catholic church.

Whoa...this is a intriguing story of espionage...

Under the codenames “Adam” and “Gray,” Wielgus apparently was recruited as a young professor of medieval philosophy in 1973, documents produced from Polish archives this week show, and had contacts with the security forces over the next three decades. Wielgus signed a form promising to collaborate. According to media reports, he received special training, was allowed to travel abroad in exchange for intelligence reports, and provided analyses of his colleagues as well as members of the Polish hierarchy.

[snip]

Benedict will want to proceed cautiously to make sure his next pick doesn’t have a similar set of skeletons in his closet, and that may be a complicated process, according to Tomasz Pompowski, an editor with DZIENNIK, an influential Polish newspaper, who has followed the Wielgus case closely.

Pompowski told NCR that he’s aware of 20 cases involving alleged collaboration by current bishops, who were recruited earlier in their clerical careers and groomed as they moved up the system. Pompowski said the degree of collaboration varies from case to case, but some involve allegations at least as serious as those surrounding Wielgus.

The Polish church has long been aware that it’s sitting on a “time bomb” with regard to Communist-era collaborators, Pompowski said, but it avoided confronting these issues during the last years of Pope John Paul II’s papacy for fear of burdening the beloved Polish pope in his twilight.

Wielgus has insisted that he never caused anyone harm, and that he went along with the security forces largely so that he could pursue his academic career, believing that his capacity to travel internationally was important for the church during an age of enforced isolation from the outside world.

Nevertheless, Wielgus has acknowledged that “the fact of my involvement has harmed the Church.”

Polish sources say the policy under both the late Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski of Warsaw and Cardinal Karol Wojtyla of Cracow, later Pope John Paul II, was that any contact with the security forces should be avoided if at all possible, and immediately reported in writing to ecclesiastical superiors. Wojtyla, for example, insisted on having witnesses present for such meetings, even for the most delicate discussions.

Fr. Shaughnessy's Homily 1-03-07

Under the previous posting -"The Name of JESUS", Father's homily from this a.m. is now available -click "homily".

Update on Baptist & Catholic Conversations

My last post on the situation. I could only find a few brief news items and one was basically a press release. Tho, during the holidays this week I was able to find this one: Baptists and Catholics end 2006 Conversation - look forward to 2007.
I think this is more informative as it provides a better list of those that attended and a list of topics that were discussed. I'm disappointed that it does not provide enough information about their actual discussions-the outcome of the conversations. Maybe they solved the world's problems?!

The Name of JESUS

"That in the name of JESUS every knee should bow, of those that are in heaven, on earth, and under the earth" (Phil., 2:10).
Per Fr. Angelus Shaughnessy's homily this a.m. on EWTN...when you have "issues" with others-family, friends, etc. claim HIS HOLY NAME with their names:
JESUS
JESUS Pres. Bush
JESUS U.S. Congress
JESUS Mexico (see today's previous postings)
JESUS CTA
JESUS MSA
JESUS RSM
Two of the greatest promoters of this devotion are St. Bernardine of Siena and St. John Capistran.
They carried with them on their missions in the turbulent cities of Italy a copy of the monogram of the Holy Name, surrounded by rays, painted on a wooden tablet, wherewith they blessed the sick and wrought great miracles. At the close of their sermons they exhibited this emblem to the faithful and asked them to prostrate themselves, to adore the Redeemer of mankind. They recommended their hearers to have the monogram of Jesus placed over the gates of their cities and above the doors of their dwelling (cf. Seeberger, "Key to the Spiritual Treasures", 1897, 102). Because the manner in which St. Bernardine preached this devotion was new, he was accused by his enemies, and brought before the tribunal of Pope Martin V. But St. John Capistran defended his master so successfully that the pope not only permitted the worship of the Holy Name, but also assisted at a procession in which the holy monogram was carried. The tablet used by St. Bernardine is venerated at Santa Maria in Ara Coeli at Rome.

The emblem or monogram representing the Holy Name of Jesus consists of the three letters: IHS. In the Middle Ages the Name of Jesus was written: IHESUS; the monogram contains the first and last letter of the Holy Name. It is first found on a gold coin of the eight century: DN IHS CHS REX REGNANTIUM (The Lord Jesus Christ, King of Kings). Some erroneously say that the three letters are the initials of: "Jesus Hominum Salvator" (Jesus Saviour of Men). The Jesuits made this monogram the emblem of their Society, adding a cross over the H and three nails under it. Consequently a new explanation of the emblem was invented, pretending that the nails originally were a "V", and that the monogram stands for "In Hoc Signo Vinces" (In This Sign you shall Conquer), the words which, according to a legendary account, Constantine saw in the heavens under the Sign of the Cross before the battle at the Milvian bridge (312).
PROCLAIM & PRAISE HIS NAME ALWAYS!

Mexico, GPS, & Illegals

Sat Nav for Mexicans illegally entering US

Mexico is handing out GPS systems to illegals to make sure they arrive in the U.S. safely and correctly to their "destinations".

"Alerting frontier police"? Why hand them out if there's a chance that they'll have to be located then detained, arrested, or deported? And they have to register their intentions before they leave? Yea right!

Those who get lost or fall sick during the dangerous four-day crossing will be able to activate the device, to alert frontier police on both sides of the border.

The satellite tracking service will require would-be illegals to register their intentions before setting off — a paradoxical move, given that secrecy is necessary for success — but Mexican authorities are predicting that about 200,000 devices will be handed out when the project is launched formally in the coming year.

"Totalization Agreement" - Social Security for Illegal Immigrants

"Fox & Friends" talked about this news item this morning.
A word of thanks to TREA Senior Citizens League -one of the nation's largest nonpartisan seniors groups!

If you haven't heard about this agreement today here's some info for review:
Social Security Agreement With Mexico Released After 3 1/2 Year Freedom of Information Act Battle

The Totalization Agreement could allow millions of illegal Mexican workers to draw billions of dollars from the U.S. Social Security Trust Fund. The agreement between the U.S. and Mexico was signed in June 2004, and is awaiting President Bush's signature. Once President Bush approves the agreement, which would be done without Congressional vote, either House of Congress would have 60 days to disapprove the agreement by voting to reject it.

"The Social Security Administration itself warns that Social Security is within decades of bankruptcy -- yet, they seem to have no problem making agreements that hasten its demise," said Ralph McCutchen, Chairman of the TREA Senior Citizens League.

They have a following...more then likely a following of a lot of $ too. And now, let's not forget Archbishop Milingo who has received support from Rev. Moon too. Trouble, deep trouble.

Construction of Chapel at Sacred Heart Univ. in Fairfield,Connecticut

Over at "Shrine of the Holy Whapping" a reader alerted him to the planning construction of a chapel at Sacred Heart Univ. I cannot but help think that it is another feeble attempt at creating another "gathering space". It should be a temple in which to lead all - our thoughts, hearts, praise, thanksgiving, and worship to OUR FATHER. It looks again more about the "me" and "us" culture.

LORD HAVE MERCY ON HIS SOUL!

THIS IS NEW AGE!

Here's a good article on the false teachings - the false truths of New Age...Catholics and the New Age A Closer Look at the Vatican Document: Jesus Christ, the Bearer of the Water of Life – A Christian Reflection on the “New Age"-written by a trustworthy servant of HIS TRUTH Susan Beckworth.

As we get ready to begin a new year - the Year of OUR LORD 2007, let us remember that there are many among us who still need the light of HIS TRUTH to shine through their darkness. A darkness that has befallen many through many means of communication. The Internet, conferences, meetings, groups, and media have allowed this darkness to permeate the minds and hearts of many of God's children and thereby allowing it to propagate and do harm to ALL HIS children. It has been allowed to fester and WE ALL have the responsibility to teach HIS truth to all we come in contact. ALL of us have to honor our baptismal vows! What joy we should all have in honoring this vow. What blessings have been bestowed upon each of in proclaiming HIS truth to all. We don't even have to leave our warm homes. We don't have to wear sandals and cross barren deserts to proclaim that truth! Oh, how blessed we are in these most troubling times. It is so very exciting knowing this in my heart.

I pray that all will receive, accept, internalize, and utilize all gifts bestowed upon them by OUR LORD to do HIS will in all things making this coming new year a most HOLY YEAR - A Year of OUR LORD 2007!

Christianity in Bethlehem Possible Extinction

Religion: The forgotten people

It is a reality that the Christian community is leaving the West Bank and the Gaza Strip at a rapid pace - and it seems that nothing can be done to stop this reality," said Rev. Alex Awad, dean of students at Bethlehem Bible College. "Within 15 years Christians in the Holy Land will be a totally insignificant minority, with just people running the churches and the institutions and no viable Christian community in the Holy Land."

Pope Benedict XVI's Year in Review

In the Year of Our Lord 2006 - August - December

He certainly was busy! And was as always bringing HIS truth to many!

Fr. Euteneuer's Weekly Spirit & Life E-Mail Newsletter

Pro-Life New Year's Resolutions for 2007

Yesterday was the Feast of the Holy Innocents in the liturgical calendar of the Roman Catholic Church. This feast celebrates the deaths of innocent children who literally died for (in place of) Christ and whom the Church has venerated as martyrs officially since about the sixth century. Their feast day has always been located in the Octave of Christmas to emphasize their intimate connection with the baby Jesus. We are reminded on this day of both the fragility of new life and our obligation to protect it and so it is fitting that as we enter this new year I challenge each of you to renew your commitment to the defense of innocent life.

First, contemplate. The Holy Innocents' feast day serves both as a reminder of a tragic historical event and as a grim reality check for those of us who live in this society where abortion is practiced as casually as shopping! A short moment of reflection on this scriptural passage will help us to discern the parallels to the abortion industry in our society: the irrational command of a powerful person to kill, the executioners with blood on their hands, the suffering of the innocent victims and the secondary victims who were scarred forever by the deaths of their children. We also contemplate the truth that "where sin abounds, grace abounds all the more," (Rom 5:20) in order to see how God brings good out of so much evil.

Second, pray. Pray for those who are blinded to this reality and ask God to grant them the grace of conversion. Remember that we are all tainted by this massacre of innocents because our lives are intertwined with the culture of death, so we must pray with humility for the gift of perseverance to bring it to an end. Prayer will bring the power of Christ to bear on this sinful institution of death. He alone can transform the world.

Third, act. God does not work through prayers only. We are His hands and feet in this world so our pro-life resolutions for 2007 have to be very direct and specific; if you are not sure what to do, I have given some suggestions below on how to meet the challenges set before us:

  1. Find the local abortion clinic in your community and make a promise to pray there at least three times in 2007—minimum.
  2. While you're at it, find the local pregnancy care center and make contact with them. It is likely they are in need of volunteers. Be one of them! They all operate on shoe-string budgets too so support them!
  3. Speak up in some forum and defend life, be it on the internet, in a letter to the editor, or in conversations with friends, family and co-workers. Of course they will call you a fanatic! It does not matter. You must think of that Day when the Lord will ask you what you did to defend His precious little ones. You must be able to say you spoke out on their behalf.
  4. Boycott the businesses that fund the death industry. These groups don't deserve one dollar of our hard-earned money if they are material cooperators in the killing of innocents. The most reputable boycott group that I know of is Life Decisions International whose detailed corporate boycott list you can order from their website (www.fightpp.org) and who provide ongoing insight into the activities of Planned Parenthood.

I'm sure there's much more we can all do, but these things are good for starters! I will be praying for you and your families as we finish this year of pro-life election losses and enter into a year full of hope and promise. May the Holy Innocents guide our commitment to be more active in saving their innocent brothers and sisters!

Fr.'s third directive is quite important. Most of us sit on the sidelines watching and allowing others to do the work. (btw...under Fr.'s #3-3 "Speak up in some forum and defend life, be it on the internet, in a letter to the editor, or in conversations with friends, family and co-workers." It's quite easy to blog. Once you set up your blog, you can email/inform family & friends a pro-life spot/bulletin board of information for them to share with others too!)

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
~Edmund Burke

Hacker Con Submits to Spychips

At a Berlin Chaos Communication Congress (CCC)...

Hackers are paying 10 euros each for the privilege of hanging special homebrew RFID tags around their necks or slapping them on their laptop bags. Every few seconds, each of these "CCC Sputnik" badges reports its owner's position to an array of 35 monitoring stations, and spits out the guinea-pigs' every move over a public XML feed.

Why is the CCC, a venue more commonly associated with RFID cracks and spychip destruction devices, supporting such an invasion of its members' privacy? One of the project's leaders, Milosch Meriac, explains the motivation to create the system was to make obvious what is normally hidden in how our technology tracks us.

"The idea was that most of this surveillance technology slowly faded into our lives, and we accepted them," Meriac says. "(We want to) make it possible to bring it into people's heads."

More on FDA Approved Cloned Food

T-Bone Steak, Well-Cloned

It costs about $15,000 to clone a cow, compared to $2,000 for natural breeding. Meanwhile, recent polls show more than half of Americans say they wouldn't buy cloned meat even if they could.

In an International Food Information Council poll (.pdf) in 2006, 58 percent of Americans surveyed said they would be unlikely to buy meat or milk from animal clones even if the FDA deemed the products safe. And earlier this month, a Pew Initiative on Food and Biotechnology poll found that "animal cloning causes great discomfort among American consumers."

The FDA says meat and milk from clones should be subject to the same safety regulations as any other food product, but it sees no need for any special labeling -- a recommendation that's already stirring controversy.

"This is a lose-lose decision by the FDA," said Andrew Kimbrell, executive director at the Center for Food Safety. "People lose, the animals lose, the meat and dairy industry loses because they will lose confidence in their products."

Without special labeling for cloned food, the meat and dairy industry stands to lose up to 15 percent in sales, Kimbrell said, because some people will avoid all meat and dairy if there's a chance some of it could come from clones. "You know Europe and the organic market will refuse (cloned products)," Kimbrell said.

What's the point if it's not cost-effective? Maybe to continue to desensitize the public to the whole concept? I think that's what it's about. We're asking for trouble if we continue down this slippery slope. Scratch that. We're down it and about to hit rock bottom!

This is good information to pass along to others.

While we continue to celebrate the holidays...

Nine underground priests arrested in Hebei.
The priests had gathered together to study. The reason for their arrest is unknown. For some time now, the Patriotic Association has been conducting a harsh campaign to clamp down on unofficial communities.

Do you take it for granted that you can get up on Sunday morning or weekday mornings and attend your local parish Mass, with your local parish priest - a U.S. citizen - as celebrant? without any fear?

Prayers for these priests. Oh, Dear Blessed Mother please I beg your intercession for the protection of your sons-priests around the world, most especially these. Oh, St. Maxmilian Kobe please intercede as well on their behalf. Ask our Almighty Father that they please be protected from all harm and to please provide the courage and strength they need to endure their imprisonment.

Rush and Sean could go off the air...

From NY's Congresswoman Louise Slaughter-
H.R. 501, The MEDIA Act (Meaningful Expression of Democracy in America)

Democrats will be working hard on this bill...get ready as they are going to try and shut down all Conservative Talk Radio. Example.

"When asked whether television and radio stations that use public airwaves should be required to present the sides of an issue in a reasonably balanced way -- including giving time to opposing points of view -- fully 77% say that they should, and only 17% say that they should not."

WHAT THIS LEGISLATION WOULD DO
The MEDIA Act would reinstate the Fairness Doctrine for broadcasters holding licenses from the Federal Communications Commission. This change would ensure that broadcasters present discussions of conflicting views on issues of public importance.

Baking (holiday) in the Seattle area is harmful to the environment?! Gosh. So, not only is it harmful to my waistline but harmful to fish and wildlife.

...tests of treated sewage sent into the sound from the West Point treatment plant in Magnolia showed cinnamon, vanilla and artificial vanilla levels rose between Nov. 14 and Dec. 9, with the biggest spike right after Thanksgiving.

I'll have to remind my family and friends not to bake so as not to disturb the eco-systems where they live and I guess this could be used as an excuse to politely refuse grandma's fruitcakes.

Merry CHRIST Mass!

Christmas Appeal - Pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory at CHRIST's Mass at the Consecration:
"Eternal Father, I offer you the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in purgatory, for sinners everywhere, those in the Universal Church, in my home and in my own family."

And while we are together sharing our love with one another..."LISTEN"!
(I found this over at Clare-Light on the Mountain -Bethlehem Poor Clare Monastery in Barhamsville, VA)

A child's definition of love...

“Love is what is in the room with you at Christmas if you stop opening presents and listen.”

May each of you have hearts so full of listening that, like Mary, you may be aware of the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior who has
appeared, become completely at home with the Word of the God who is Love, move in and out of it with ease, and let it form the basis of all your doings. (cf.Pope Benedict XVI, “Deus Caritas Est”)

May you and yours have a very blessed and merry Christmas!

Democrats Scared of Brownback!

"Veil Tip" to guys at Southern Appeal. The Dems are scared to death of Brownback. Is this enough of a confirmation or what?! Thank you GOD!

Notes From My Purple State: Brownback for President

"Confirmation" (indicators/quotes) of Brownback's Presidential Candidacy:

Brownback is a religious man determined to sniff the scent of many versions of the Christian Gospel. After a stint as a Methodist, he donned Evangelical garb in the mid-90s. Apparently, neither was a good enough fit: In 1996, Brownback fell under the spell of Rev. John McCloskey, an anchor at the right-wing Catholic organization Opus Dei. He was baptized a Catholic “not in a church but in a chapel tucked between lobbyists' offices on K Street that is run by Opus Dei,” writes Jeff Sharlet in Rolling Stone.

[snip]

Brownback has spoken widely to Legatus, a lay organization of Catholic CEOs committed to right-wing social causes. Legatus, with 5,000 members, is filled with friends—and better yet for Brownback, friends with deep pockets. Brownback’s association with Monaghan begins to make sense.

[snip]
His opposition to abortion is still (and always will be) his mainstay, but don’t let that fool you: this hack favors just about everything that common-sense Americans oppose, and vice versa, when it comes to healthcare, the war in Iraq, energy policy, environmental protection, and tax cuts.

Their name calling is much nicer?! NOT!

[snip]

The best indicator we're on to something good....

Democrats can’t let the electoral success of 2006 blind them to the revenge that far-right elements will be looking for—are looking for even now, in fact—in 2008. For if America wakes up under Brownback, well…God help us all.

American Life League - Pelosi

Pelosi Wants Mass to Showcase Faith; ALL Urges D.C. Archbishop to Stop it

On January 3, Rep. Pelosi is scheduled to attend Mass at Trinity College in Washington as an endorsement of her alma mater and her Catholic faith. Given Pelosi’s outspoken support of abortion, Mrs. Brown has written to Archbishop Wuerl requesting that he do all in his power to stop the event. “Rep. Pelosi has a tremendous opportunity to make a difference for all human beings as the most powerful Catholic in Congress,” said Brown. “Unfortunately, she continually supports the very act that destroys life rather than protects it. It is for this very reason that a Catholic institution should not condone or support her position as a legislator.”

Stem Cells

Public Misinformed About Stem Cell Issue

"The beef is that there is no question that embryos are destroyed in the harvesting of stem cells," Maxwell said. "Now you are destroying a human being."

Many scientists disagree. Crouse, who specializes in embryonic stem cells, said it boils down to a difference in perspective about when human life begins.

He said, "There is no baby, no abortion."

In fact, Crouse said, the embryos that are used are essentially medical waste.

Most embryonic stem cells used in U.S. research come from embryos left over from in vitro fertilization - where a woman's eggs are fertilized outside the womb and the resulting embryos are implanted in the uterus. If the embryos are not implanted, they are typically destroyed.

Animals Dream in Pictures, Too

The "fringe"...do you mean a carpet?

"Veil tip" to the guys over at Southern Appeal for this “Brownback’s big backer”.

I love the quote from Rev. R0bert Drinan, on former Domino's Pizza founder Tom Monaghan's support of Sen. Sam Brownback-(Catholic-convert) on his possible candidacy to the White House:

“In the Catholic community, he’s looked upon as kind of on the fringes,” said the Rev. Robert Drinan, a liberal Roman Catholic priest and former Democratic congressman who teaches at Georgetown University. “The world view is, ‘We have to get back to a Catholic civilization.’ They want to go back to a Christian society imposed from above. … It’s just another world they want to build.”

"GOOD NEWS Alert" - "Positive" Iraq

Did you know any of this information? Well, how silly of me to think that you would. Of course the gloom n' doom media have not presented this information. I can't recall anyone talking about these numbers. Will you do those courageous women and men a real big favor? Won't you please email, blog, talk about this information? Maybe you can send a "GOOD NEWS alert" to your lists...let's start a "snowball" fight of gigantic proportion...since we all receive those "funny, cute, and whimsical" snowball emails...let's replace it with this information. And possibly the "GOOD NEWS alert" will reach our courageous women and men before Christmas. Look at a sample of the "GOOD NEWS":

Update: Intercessory Prayer Needed to STOP Aborted Fetuses - Stem Cells Used

Healthy new-born babies may have been killed in Ukraine to feed a flourishing international trade in stem cells, evidence obtained by the BBC suggests.
Our Lady of Guadalupe PLEASE HELP US!!!

Last month in Portland, Ore., doctors for the first time transplanted stem cells from aborted fetuses into his head in a desperate bid to reverse, or at least slow, a rare genetic disorder called Batten disease. The so-far incurable condition normally results in blindness and paralysis before death. Doctors don’t know if the neural stem cells taken from fetuses — donated to a nonprofit medical foundation by women aborting early-stage pregnancies — will save Daniel’s life. But the boy has sufficiently recovered from his 8-hour surgery to be expected to return to his Orange County, Calif., home Friday — the first day of Hanukkah.

“We don’t think that is a coincidence,” said Marcus Kerner, who said a deep faith in Judaism and long hours of prayer prompted the family to volunteer Daniel for the risky procedure. Daniel was diagnosed two years ago and has since lost the ability to walk and talk. Daniel is the first volunteer of an experiment that plans to operate on five more afflicted children over the next year.
I wish I could find out who that "non-profit medical foundation" is....
No other words can describe how much trouble we are IN! Does Judaism allow the killing of one for the betterment of another?

I just received my copy of the Sister Servants of the Eternal Word's Christmas CD-
"The Word Was Made Flesh". It is destined to become a Christmas classic in this household. You will love it too! I promise. The usual Christmas favorites can be heard, but the most interesting ones for me are-# 4 "Calypso Carol" & #5 "A La Nanita Nana"- the lyrics & translations accompany the CD in a booklet format. You can listen to a sample online here and then make sure you place an order...they might start flying out the door.

Beeson Divinity School To Host Baptist/Catholic Conversation

"Veil Tip" to Southern Appeal for this one-Baptist-Catholic talks held in December to be held at Samford Univ. (Birmingham, AL.) Conversations between the Baptist World Alliance & the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity (Pres. Walter Cardinal Kasper).

The conversations are a continuation of previous talks with the Vatican Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity in 1990 and a follow-up visit by the BWA to the Vatican in March of this year.

Topics to be discussed include the authority of Christ in Scripture and tradition, Baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and Hearing the Word of God in the contemporary context.

[snip]

We are pleased that all Baptist leaders with whom we spoke understand the importance and necessity of discussing with our Catholic friends issues where we have unity, and, on the other hand, issues where we have serious concerns and misunderstandings.

[snip]

Theological conversations are not for the purpose of compromise, but for clarification and mutual edification.

[snip]

The conversations may lead to “Further action together on ethical issues, including justice, peace and the sanctity of life, in accord with God’s purpose and to the praise of God’s glory,” an earlier report on the conversations noted.

[snip]

The Vatican Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity will be represented by Bishop Arthur Serratelli of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Paterson, New Jersey, and eight other Catholic representatives.

The series of meetings will be held in various locations around the world, beginning in December and concluding in 2010.

Samford Univ./Beeson is located in The Diocese of Birmingham . The diocese of Birmingham is considered to be in the "Bible Belt" and is considered by the Catholic Church-a missionary area.

The Diocese of Birmingham is located almost in the center of the area of the United States traditionally known as the Bible Belt. The Bible Belt refers to those states in the South and Southeast which are predominantly fundamentalist in religious thinking. All dioceses in this wide area are truly missionary insofar as no one of them is more than 5% Catholic. Churches of the area are largely Baptist, Church of Christ, Church of God, Pentecostal and Methodist. Using specific church membership as a criterion, Alabama is a very religious state.
